heck yeah we got ALDIs and Lidls and all that shit here in airdrie, scotland. those two places pay really well here, i think it's £7.60 an hour for day shift. that's $15 an hour, and that's really good for unskilled work right? well it's good here anyway. although, like someone said they don't hire many people cos of their relaxed approach to presentation, so it's hard to get a job in there. i applied a couple of times.

also i suspect a lot of the food you get in ALDIs isn't worse nutritionally than the brand or mainstream store equivalents. just don't buy the crazy gummy worms, i guess

dude there is no way there's a 79 cent banquet meal. that shit is usually AVERAGE SIZED what the fuck is it really SALISBURY NEWSPAPER.
no!

I admit 90% of the time it is $1.00, but it has been on sale once in a while. It is actually really good! It's not the most filling thing in the world (a tablespoon of corn and 2 tbsp of potatoes, but the sauce it comes in is FANTASTIC and I love it!)

edit: the whole thing is 9.5oz, so I'm assuming the meat is like 6oz?

yeah that sounds kind of expensive compared to the ones around here.  ours sell pretty big shit like pizzas for like 99c and i think most things in general are around a dollar.

also i'm glad i'm not the only one who gets jazzed about THE..... THE SAVINGS..... because i always go grocery shopping and get a little rush when i realize how much i got for so little and then feel slightly ashamed for getting giddy over bargain hunting

I used to buy my groceries at one of these places but I got kind of tired of their stock almost exclusively consisting of 10% food, 10% random home utilities and 80% candy, so I ended up going back to proper grocery chains.

and it's nice not to have to bag 30+ groceries
It is pretty hilarious because it takes like 30 seconds to bag groceries and it is hard for me to imagine a situation that would justify someone else doing it for me. It really does seem like a useless function that makes your shopping slightly more convenient at best.

So would you recommend Save-A-Lot? I need to find a new grocery store because I really don't have time to drive 50 miles to the closest Whole Foods

nah man bagging a shopping cart full of groceries so nothing gets crushed or anything takes a while actually!  also they're there to help people out to the parking lot with their shit and put it in their cars if they need to (old women etc) which imo is pretty useful

edit.  cho i would say yeah go there if youre on a budget but whole foods is about eight billion times better as a store so BRACE YOURSELF i guess

Yeah I was kind of joking about that because Whole Foods is pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum!

Also since Americans actually have cars, I think we probably buy more groceries at a time than Europeans. Someone confirm or deny this.

i think the situation in britain is pretty much identical to the one in america when it comes to shopping at supermarkets. everyone i know, who i know the shopping habits of, shops at supermarkets and buys a weekly/biweekly shopping kind of thing. i dunno about the mainland though.

there's no way this is true unless you are shopping for yourself.

a lot of people tend to fill those shopping carts drule, it takes a lot of time to bag all that shit if you're up front making sure the cashier scans your food and gets the price right.

the way it works with bagging is that as the cashier is scanning your items, you wait at the end of the counter where the cashier slides the items down. there are bags down there for you to use, and really it only takes as long as scanning the items does because you are bagging them as quickly as they are getting scanned. even if there was a bagger there, you would still have to wait. i don't see the convienience. if you think there is something wrong with the price, then just look at the receipt and check if there is a bunch of crap or things that went through twice. it's not like the cashier has any incentive to over charge you, so all it would be is a minor mistake.

well basically here in america they pay the bag boy to do that so we can stand there debating whether we'll feel like too much of a fatty if we pick up a snickers and put it on the belt

I do this

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

they've got the counter products here, too. i think the idea is that you buy them while you are waiting for the person ahead you in the line to finish.

Every second you spend bagging is a second you don't spend deciding on candy. That's bad for business.
