I need a good blog software that isn't a fucking framework. Cute News is as close as I've gotten to a publishing platform that allows you to integrate CMS functions into an existing website, but it is too lightweight and isn't really for blogging.

Newspro used to be a good one, but I don't think that exists anymore...  Just checked it out.  Maybe you could find an old copy of it?  In any case, you could also hook into Blogger.  I used to use Blogger and plug in some of the stuff to my CMS with PHP.

Aside from that, I'd say Wordpress, but that's a full-blown system, I think.

What's wrong with WordPress? It's really easy to modify and very hackable. My blog took only a short while to make.

I'd reccomend wordpress 2.5 now that its finally out.. it's probably the best blogging software I've used.

Aside from CuteNews, I don't know of any that would fit your bill. Wordpress is very easy to fit around a site though.
