no stupid i mean why is it the color red.  the moon isn't red.  did he haul MILLIONS OF GALLONS OF PAINT up to the moon?

Hancock put the symbol for the other guys earth saving thingy on the moon which was a red heart.

And no need to get your panties in a bunch.

movie was good. it didn't need a super villain because the super villain was Hancock's inner being. Man against himself if you will, battling with being an asshole drunkard or being the good guy. movie does not need a sequel, because a sequel wouldn't be doing the same thing. This is an origin story, but the mood of the thing is for the darky asshole type deal, which he no longer is, so a sequel sucks. i also commend will smith for not being will smith for once.

normally he plays the FUNNY GUY though like even in INDEPENDENCE DAY he was A FUNNY GUY. hey aliens are trying to kill us *makes joke in alien spaceship inside stupid alien mothership*. this is like the one movie where he wasn't genuinely trying to be the funny guy because Hancock isn't supposed to be funny. he wasn't making jokes all the time he was fairly serious through out it all.

yeah but i mean all of those play into the character though. being a drunk asshole he gets called asshole a lot and doesn't like it, and probably harassed a lot of women (touching the ones chick ass at the start etc).

whereas noirmally its all "lol not until the fat lady sings man...." or whatever the fuck the joke was in indepdence day and [insert ][/insert].

idk it felt different, more like the character less like smith. it's pretty believable that a drunk asshole who is a superhero would say shit, imo.

Yeah, I'm with Lamb, Hancock wasn't really an intentionally funny guy. Most of the time I was laughing at how out of tune he was with the rest of the world.

I saw this tonight and didn't really like it. The whole plot turn pretty much blew.

I just saw this.. It was ok, funnier then I expected but that stupid fucken twist just killed what was a good start to the movie. Still watchable though and Will Smith is always in decent films (Plus I Am Legend is one of my favorite films now) and does great jobs in them also.

yea I saw this a few days ago. as everyone else is saying, it started out with a lot of promise and then it just got worse and worse and more convoluted and such. it really reminded me of the tone and plot shift in click. what a bummer, it was pretty awesome for a while.

I really liked it.  Far different than I expected (when I saw the trailers I was thinking like a pretty much straight up superhero comedy, but it was a lot darker at some points than I expected).  I loved Smith's character, how he wasn't a typical save-the-world hero.

I agree, the twist was kind of dumb, but I don't think it bogged down the movie too much.

It was certainly enjoyable, and that's really the only thing I could ask for.  Plus, Jason Bateman is hilarious.

EDIT:

it really reminded me of the tone and plot shift in click

I thought the exact same thing while I was watching it.  I thought it was handled a bit better than Click, however.

I thought it was funny, but it took itself to seriously at some parts.

The mike epps thing was funny though.

Yeah the first half hour was the best part of the film, because the first half hour was what I expected the whole film to be. The rest was meh. It could have been worse.

It's still one of the better superhero films I've seen in the past few years.

Yeah it was pretty good until the plot twist. I liked it a lot though, and I mean it wasn't UNWATCHABLE after the twist, so you know. Still quite enjoyable even after that (if not a little dumb).

I thought the movie tried to take itself too seriously after the plot twist. If they just kept it funny it probably would've been more watchable. The ending also seemed kinda rushed and the relationship between Hancock and Mary (that's what her name was, right?) was just hard to follow.

I actually enjoyed the fact that there was no main villain in the movie, it allowed you to focus on Hancock in particular a little more. The little bit of cheesiness that worked its way in near the second half of the film didn't before me all that much, if at all. It was a really enjoyable movie, and it was great to see a sort of superhero movie that didn't spend the most part of the film explaining how all the powers came about, didn't spend ages thronging obvious facts at you to 'try' and give depth to the character and didn't stress some sort of responsibility meaning till I wanted to scream.

I was quite smitten with Hancock character, he spoke for himself, they didn't much the whole badass loner thing to far, and when it came for him to turn the other cheek, they didn't push the he's a nice Guy thing to far.

The only thing I would have like was a little more insight into the species that Hancock and the PR's wife were, so long as it was absent of the long boring descriptions. It seemed the whole 'we're a pair of some species that has powers' was repeated a few times throughout some scenes, three times if I remember correct. Once would have sufficed and a little more depth into the characters and there species would been great.

I wouldn't have minded if we got a little bit of seriousness at the end, the death of the PR or his wife would've worked for me.

That said, Hancock was a good character none the less. Nice movie.

There's talk of a second Hancock considering the amount of cash this brought in. If it goes ahead (rumours are it's already shooting, but I doubt it) then the questions we all wished had been answered that would've added depth to the movie and acting should be coming forth.
