Starting to get bored of 2005's dissapointing yet online-addictive metroid prime hunters? Want a new online FPS experience on the dual screened handheld? Look no further than a game in the making called "C.O.R.E.". This game boasts impressive online multiplayer as well as a good engine.
Website: http://www.corethegame.com
Screenshots:

The game will be a FPS, as you would expect from the descripton much like games such as Quake.

Character and decently impressive and the guns look nice.

Not only will there be an awesome online/local multiplayer mode....

....but the campaign boasts to be good, however the true focus of the game seems to be put into the multiplayer.

Creators: NoWay Studios

Now as I said above, the multiplayer will be the prime focus of the game(even though the story stated on the website is nice) and NoWay Studios is giving it their all with this feature. Here are the details picked up from the website:
"C.O.R.E multiplayer mode is designed with clear and simple goal: fun and
best interactive experience possible for all players around the world. We
believe that fans of the "old school" shooters will be pleased with our quality.
Finally, after a long time of waiting for a classic multiplayer FPS we can
proudly announce it has arrived

-Enjoy three different multiplayer modes,

* Death match
* Team arena
* Capture the flag

-Choose best weapon among 8 accessible guns
-Enjoy the game with 3 other friends using only one card!
-Play according to the classic FPS rules: entire arsenal of weapons plus power-ups will be available
Have access to the player's statistics for the best competition elements"

We will be able to kick some online ass on our DS when it releases soon this year :)

This looks kinda cool, but uh..I clicked this expecting it to be an MMO.

Where's the mmo? Calling this an mmo is like saying halo 3 is an mmo.

Yeah... I don't think it's an mmo at all. In any case, the graphics are terrible... it IS the DS though, so not bad for DS standards.

Well, people are considering the game an "MMOFPS" of sorts. I guess its just that there will be lots of people who can face eachother online(maybe 16 player?) Information is plentiful on this game, i just wish to know a biiiit more on the multiplayer.

pretty jawesome, I remember hearing about the game when it was just being pitched around to publishers, considering how many more features have been added since then (like online multiplayer which wasn't there initially) I can only assume they've found a publisher and are progressing with the title.  If anything, thanks for the heads up, the game looks pretty decent and despite how much damn sense it makes on the DS there aren't very many FPS games on it at all so hopefully this turns out well.

CoD4 was actually pretty decent though, for a single player game. (my bro and I did multi and it wasn't all that great mainly because the arenas are pretty big)  But yeah, I wouldn't mind another online FPS either as I got out of Hunters after the lamers really dug into the game.  I was able to deal with them before:

- Hiding Weavel's turret behind walls
- Shadow Freezing with Noxus
- Constantly choosing Combat Hall so they can "noob camp" using Trace

But when it got to the point when people were getting weapons not native to the map (Omega Cannon on Combat Hall? WTF?), inducing 100% Invincibility, getting the Death Alt on stages that don't even have it, beginning the stage in Death Alt... the game just became intolerable.  I jumped on Mario Kart DS a few weeks ago and it seems the problems there have since died down so I wonder if the same is true for Hunters?  Bah!

Hunters is a hacker's paradise on the DS, which is why i don't play it too much anymore. I would much rather play other games such as "Advance Wars: Days of Ruin" where I never saw one hacker, not one hacker.

but anyways, there have been no new announcements on the game. This can either be good, bad, or they are just pulling a "Square Enix" and will not show much more updates until it's near release.

Why bother modelling weapons on a DS shooter? They should juse use sprites or nothing at all, like rainbow six/ghost recon. Ideally I think a DS shooter should use sprites for the characters too, that way atleast the levels can be made a little more interesting.

I think that just the idea of a primarily or entirely multiplayer FPS on the DS is incredibly ill-conceived from the start.  Like who thinks this is a good idea?

its not like hunters where it will have crappy campaign, the story is pretty deep much like quake 4(though quakes plots were a bit generic)

Yeah I didn't like hunters very much. It was repetitive. Hey look its a hunter battle! Hey look its a giant rotating tower with lots of eyes to shoot. Look! It's a giant eyeball! my details might be inaccurate, but after I beat it I got rid of it.
