CoD4 is great for multiplayer.  I don't own any games for PS3 aside from that -- I've played quite a few, though.

Assassin's Creed does get repetitive.  I've never really played any other GTA games, so GTA4 was kind of interesting to me -- but it's all the same thing over and over again.

Haze looks like it has the potential to be a good game.  The controls and game are kind of clunky, but I was only playing the online demo.  Single-player mode would probably be better, especially with the depth of storyline.  It looks like it'll probably be one of those "oh my god, why have I been fighting?  Am I the bad guy?" kind of things.

Resistance: Fall of Man was pretty entertaining.  Only played like a quarter of the way through it at most.  Enjoyed it.  Resistance 2 is going to be pretty awesome -- I think they're allowing up to 48 players or something like that in a multiplayer match.  That's just incredible.  Either that or it's going to REALLY suck.

Also, if you're into beat 'em up or like Gundam, Dynasty Warriors Gundam was actually pretty entertaining.  A lot of my friends (non-Gundam fanatics) weren't very thrilled about it, but said it was at least pretty decent for a beat 'em up.

As it stands, I don't think there are any games out for the PS3 that are what Halo 3 was for the 360.  Metal Gear Solid may be a good game and it looks pretty cool, but I don't think it'll be the selling point.  I'd seriously like to see a REALLY GOOD RPG for the PS3.  Folklore was nice, but it was too different for me.

Resistance Fall of Man is great. Resistance 2 is coming soon too, so maybe it's time to catch up!

Viking IS awesome. It's not what I expected, but it's kind of what Conan should have been, I think. Dunno, it's your typical SEGA shit; not pristine, but entertaining.

I'd recommend...

Grand Theft Auto 4 because it's just amazing on so many levels. Liberty City feels so alive and vibrant, and I am never running out of things to do. In past GTA games, I liked to just run around and screw with the city, treating the game as a big sandbox mode, but GTA 4 just has so much to do that, well... You won't have time to just piss around, even if all you're doing is making taxi runs.

Assassin's Creed is pretty great too. This is what games like Tenchu should have been in terms of assassinating people and the like. The game world is huge (an okay sized town, three sprawling cities and a wilderness map) and a blast to explore. What makes it even better is the fact that if you see something, and I mean anything, chances are you can climb up to it. It's just.. Amazing. This is one of my favourite exploration games ever. I didn't finish the game though, because the actual ingame missions are pretty bland and uninteresting ("Go here, kill guy, return to me.").

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is fantastic for hardcore racing fans. If you are into arcade racers then you should probably shy away from this, but if you are into racing sims and the like then this is for you. The gameplay is very good, the music and sound effects are top notch. The graphics, however, are simply amazing. Probably the best looking game I've ever played. Just drive the London street course or Eiger Nordwand, a course in the mountains with a stunning view. I have not played the game in SD, and frankly I don't want to. This game, in HD, is quite simply orgasmic.

Honourable mentions to Folklore (action RPG) and Dirt (rally racing) which are both pretty good games too.

I'd rather wait til 2009 and get Gran Turismo 5 not prologue. Seriously. I understand Prologue is kinda huge and does hold ground as a game but...

it really IS a demo of GT5. The notion of selling a demo for full price hurts me.

40 isn't far from 50 and 60, mind you.

Demos are meant to be free~

I thought Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was basically the game. Maybe they'll give you a discount on the actual release if you buy Prologue. (yeah right)

I hope they do. And yeah, like I said, Prologue COULD stand ground as a game itself, but it's hard to buy into that when you know the real deal is coming later.

Prologue has.. 60-70 cars iirc..? And about 12-14 tracks. GT5 is going to have over 600 cars. That's just.... gigantic.

Plus they're working (though they said they'd put that in with a patch for Prologue too) on realistic damage. Hopefully scraping walls will be impossible due to this..

Prologue is like a demo, yes, but there is a lot of content. Five tracks (8 if you count reverse, etc.), fifty cars or so, and literally hours of play.

Also your saves from Prologue will carry over to the full release.

If you want to play Granturismo you can pretty much play 3-prologue and it'll be the same game with either better graphics or more cars?

I have but two games you should stay away from.. Lair and..

Haze, after playing that demo it just proved my assumptions of Haze being nothing but an average shooter, unless you want to play around with some dumb AI then it's your game!

Prologue is overpriced, I totally would not buy it unless it's like $20.

Well I don't know, I picked it up new for only about $30. I'd imagine it can be found even cheaper than that used.

I just played Assassin's Creed after a few months of taking a break from it and I think it's entertaining. I kinda got a buzz from seeing the cities again and how sparse it is.

I skipped Haze because it looked like it would be what Heavenly Sword was... a beautiful graphic mess of a game.

I doubt I'll even get MGS to be honest... not sure yet.

Get all the classics PS2 game if you haven't already. I'm not going to list them just google 'em. Oh and get God of War III and Kingdom Hearts III when they come out (you have no choice in the matter).

If you like GT and for the amount of content it's easily worth it.
