COMMUNITY STAFF WRITER

THE OPPORTUNITY:
In order to maximise the return on our Community Investment we have taken the decision to source Community Articles have been sourced through "Business in the Community" through the "Future Publishing" partnership. This change will ensure that we have flexibility of projects, develop our own bran for Community engagement and improve our value for money.
Therefore, Group GW is looking for an individual with a real Community focus to move forward the Community Teamwork programme and the Happy Zoo fundraising programmes. In this role you will report to the GW Administration. You will be working internally from our head office in either London, UK, or Berlin, Germany, seeking out opportunies within the Community to promote activities and games which interest the Community as a whole. You will be supporting individuals in the business that seek to develop skills, team building and positive profiles through the use of Community Teamwork.
Your first challenge will be to build up a serious of articles internally within the GW Blog and externally in promoting GW and recruiting new Business Partners, including local Community LAN Gaming Centres, local schools and other youth clubs which we require support from. These could be linked to the GW Community in due course. You will will then be tasked with delivering the Community content to these places across the UK and Germany.
Our Happy Zoo fundraising scheme currently raises over £600k per annum and we will be looking for you to project manage the GW Community Blog in order to pull in new funding and raise the overall annual turnover of the Happy Zoo.
THE CANDIDATE:
The successful candidate will have knowledge of key areas of the business and Community, be customer focused - understand the challenges of our administration, the Community groups we work with, such as G&D and Post 9/11, and what they wish to see from our business and Community. You should demonstrate knowledge and experience of writing articles or other lengthy content and show empathy for the needs of the Community and an understanding of how we can deliver these.
You will need to be tenacious, able to meet deadlines, work well under pressure, creative, and be comfortable multi-tasking several articles whilst working alongside the GW Administration. You will need excellent communication and written skills, be able to communicate and influence all levels of GW and external stakeholders. You will be an ambassador for the Business. Above all, you will be a real self-starter with bags of initiative who can work on their own.
A degree from a university, or equivalent association, is not essential for applying for the job. However you will need to display that you can write freely without needing a manager to oversee your work and guide you through it. Use of previously established GW Articles to help aid your writing skill will be allowed and, at times, training may be offered.
