this video was really cool. you dont really see too many videos like this in the mainstream media, now-a-days. most of them are just the band playing in a plain white room, or in a field or something, with some quasi-artsy clips of random shit between fast changing angles of the band playing the music with way too much energy.

weezer always has been a cool, down to earth band. so not all of their songs are spectacular, and mindblowing. weezer is just one of them bands that when you hear a song you think "oh, hey thats weezer. yeah theyre cool peoples". i dont think weezer was ever out to be anyone's favorite band, not where they ever out to impress anyone.

it's using various internet memes, obviously to appeal to the geek/nerd/loser/cunt crowd. The video itself is basically repeating those memes around the song, making the video nothing more than "remember that thing on youtube?". Essentially the video has the merits of a conversation in an old folks home but with the added oomph of Weezer basically saying "aren't we cool and hip and trendy? we like the same things you like! Let's be buds" like that annoying fat kid you all remember from school, who'd suddenly like what you liked and would get the newest shit of it to impress you into being his friend (perhaps some of you were that kid). The song itself dull, generic and uninspired (not enough xylophone solos for me to enjoy), and it's just all bundled up in the fact that these memes are really the stuff nobody with a brain should find remotely funny, and if they do then they shouldn't brag about it, or even mention it outside of 4chan.

I used to be a huge weezer fan. Can't say this is their best video/song though. I just want to know though, who's the dude that sings at 1:30.

maybe things in here are somewhat different, but I found the video pretty interesting, I have never seen a mainstream video doing what they did, they do know that the youtube audience is a new public, and aimed for them, is that really so bad?
about the song, it's not horrible shit die, but it's not specially good either, although I've never been a diehard fan of weezer so it's not like I'm mad at them now.

basically this is the lowest form of humor or entertainment, the callback. if you don't keep up with some stupid bullshit internet pop meme trend, you don't get the video. it's wholely unoriginal, unrelated as far as I can tell to the song, and lazy. representative of the whole idea that people will swallow any kind of shit if you wrap it in a recognizable enough package and stroke their egos enough.

I think that video made lots of youtubers emotional, and I think is a very nice move, and even more a very humane one, they feel like they matter more than just to have others make fun of them. the vocalist even hugged Chris crocker, it's like "we love you little youtube people" contrary to "youtube people are just dumb and stupid" which is what we regularly hear.

The point is that every other allstars youtuve video I've seen, only parodies them and makes fun of them, instead of asking them their cooperation to work on a new video. For example, Miss Carolina is with a blender with some maps inside of it, with an attitude of "so what? I screwed up, maybe I'm dumb, maybe I was nervous, who cares?" Then, the vocalist hugs Chris crocker, like saying "we don't hate you, maybe everyone is laughing at you, but we're not" and I think that's a very nice thing to do to those people who have been insulted to death in their videos, and are considered pretty much stupid by most of the planet.
Now If you don get that, it's probably because al GWers are by definition dead on the inside
