I know what this game is but I can't remember the name, I won't post it even if I remember because I was around when chef was discussing it in irc. Also he's lying..a fief is a general. Fiefs and officers, generals and officers.
Actually a fief is a piece of land granted to a knight or other noble military officer (samurai, etc) in a feudal system. The idea is that the knight manages the land and collects money from it so that he can be properly equipped and maintain a force of soldiers so that he is ready to go to war. That way the king doesn't need to micromanage every detail of the empire but can generally rely on having a standing military.
I don't know if you were like getting it wrong on purpose or whatever but yeah.
Also I don't know what the last game is.
