What you do is if upgrading is too expesnive/unavailable you use your obsoletes as police in your core to keep the locals happy / underwraps and stack your good units up in periphery strongholds, so that you can use small undefended bordertowns as bait if you're egging to start a war with your neighbour, and then take it back two turns later (and then blitz for thier wonder-city).

man, i am so close to buying this. it's either this or gas. man!!!!!

how much faster than regular civ 4 games is this? i don't want to spend like 5 hours a game on this. also, who all has this? let's get some xbox live games going!

i found it in the demo section on xbox live.  it's like 1.2gb but i'd rather check it out than spend like $65 on something i don't even like!

Games can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on your play style but I haven't played online yet because I'm waiting for some dudes on my BUDDY LIST to pick it up, I don't like playing gams with strangers.

I'm up to Emporer now anyway and I just did the ONE CITY achievement which was fucking hard, the main problem I found was that I just couldn't produce enough of whatever it was that I wanted to win by in one city compared to everyone else who was generating mass culture/gold/tech with multiple cities.

In the end I won with the americans. Went balanced for a while to populate the city and build MARKET/BANK, got democracy and went GOLD PROD and at the end with bonuses/special people I was producing about 1400G a turn.

(I also went communism for a bit to build FACTORY/TRADE FAIR)

I really like this game though.

I really want to do some online but like I said before until I get my connection sorted out there is no reason because it would just disconnect me like 15 minutes into it.

But when I am able to play online, I definitely want to play with you guys because this is the kind of game I wouldn't want to play with strangers.  I don't know, it just seems like the kind of game where you'd want to know the people you're playing with.
