yeah i just saw it.  i liked it a lot!  it was way longer than i was expecting it to be; it got to the 90 minute mark and just kept going.  NOT COMPLAINING but yeah, it was pretty damn long.

I haven't seen the movie yet (went to see Hancock tonight instead) but I did get a copy of The Gotham Times newspaper. I love this viral marketing. The paper is really well done and the ads contained in it are hilarious! My personal favourite:

Quote
DO YOU KNOW A CORRUPT COP?

SIGNS OF POLICE CORRUPTION:
- POLICE OFFICERS FRATERNIZING WITH KNOWN CRIMINALS
- POLICE OFFICERS LIVING BEYOND THEIR MEANS
- DRUG USE, GAMBLING, DEBT, OR FREQUENT DRUNKENESS
- POLICE OFFICERS LEAVING THE SCENE SHORTLY BEFORE CRIME IS COMMITTED

There's also a funny article entitled "Rash of Clown Sightings Jolts Worried City". I don't want to read the whole paper before I see the film as I don't want to spoil myself potentially, but just from looking over this briefly it's pretty awesome to the lengths they went.

Just got back from this. I loved every minute of it. The whole RASPY BATMAN voice was annoying but then I got used to it.

Overall, there wasn't really any bad performances. Even small characters were great, but I think that Heath's performance clearly shined as best fit role. He did a superb job, I think flawless. And it's not because his death and everything (I doubt anyone here would say that anyway), he was just great.

Probably my favorite scene:

Joker was amazing.

Pretty much what everyone else said. I haven't been so enthralled by a movie like this in years.

This isn't much of a sensible complaint as it is an inherent issue when you have such a brilliant performance, but I did find Ledger's brilliance to hugely overshadow much of the remaining cast; most notably Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent. Basically the near-climax scenes emphasizing him seemed pretty lusterless/bland after being transfixed by the Joker for the previous two hours. Still, it didn't exactly take away from the movie. Incredible film.

Hell no man, most characters got their moment, like when . Screen time for everyone was absolutely perfect. Joker's lack of origin story and sympathy shit really helped focus Harvey Dent.

Well that's just my opinion..........................

Also did anyone at all notice the Edison Chen cameo?

Heath's final performance was remarkable.

He has one more movie coming up btw.

This was his final full film.  The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was not finished when he died and they hired Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law to finish Heath's parts.

This movie was amazing. I saw the midnight premiere (which, by the way, now has the record gross at $18.5 million for a midnight showing, and that is midnight only, not including the additional 3:00 and 6:00 am times that were shown).  If you want to go to the movies you must go see this film before any other.  Heath Ledger performs the role of Joker so perfectly that he is unrecognizable and truly became the character on-screen.  The other actors all perform well making this one of the greatest American movies of all time.

man GREATEST AMERICAN MOVIE OF ALL TIME

i dunno about that!  after like one day it is already #3 on imdb and that is just kind of hilarious to me.  i thought it was great for a superhero movie, and even for an action movie in general it's about as good as i think it could be, but i don't really think it is better than taxi driver or one flew over the cuckoo's nest or any other uh... actual historical pieces of cinema/great american films.  it's always kind of confusing to me what people base this on that you can take BATMAN or star wars or lotr or any of those other absurdly highly-rated movies and hold them in higher regard than citizen kane or some other you know... actual contribution to film.  i feel kind of like a dick for saying this and don't take it so literally, because i feel like these past two batman movies have, in their own way, been decent contributions to film in that they illustrate that superhero movies don't necessarily have to blow, but i think you know what i mean.

I never said it was THE greatest American movie of all time.  There are many movies better than it that have contributed much more to our film industry but TDK is more than just a superhero movie.  Nolan has created what is almost a crime movie experience.  It has a great character study and superb dialogue that raises many ethical questions about society.  IMDB is ridiculous until the movie has been out for at least two months.

it wasnt bad but what is up with the scene? that felt like a real stretch to me because they wanted to move the plot forward.

yeah i uh, i had no idea what even happened with that.  i feel like i sort of dazed out during the scene but i didn't!  i just remember seeing it seem kind of far fetched and not even remembering why they did it.

i could think of a hundred ways that they could have done that believably.

ohhh yeah thats what it was!

yeah that makes no sense at all and i'm pretty sure the fingerprint would've been fragmented/worthless anyway.

also when he has to choose, does joker intentionally give him the wrong addresses?  i mean it seems pretty clear that he switched them, but they never really ADDRESS it.

i don't want to sit through the first movie but i am really anxious to see the joker in this. i was becoming a fan of heath ledger when he died just for brokeback mountain cos while he had mostly done shit before that it looked as if he was ready to step up and when i heard about the joker role i was just surprised and really curious so i'm gonna see this.

i wonder if it's out in the uk. i'll go check.
