so wall-e. there was the THIS WEEK IN FILMS topic but not much more than that. which seems strange to me because pixar movies are usually one of the big blockbusters and generate a lot of talk or whatever. so wall-e.

it's about a robot who does his job and compresses garbage into little squares and cleans up the earth after humans have moved away. 700 years pass in this monotonous life until a probe robot comes to search the earth for plant life. a really adorable romance blossoms between the two robots and of course they end up having to thwart a plot and bring humans back to return the earth to its former glory.

i saw it tonight and was very excited. i mean pixar has an incredible track record. i absolutely LOVED last year's ratatouille, not to mention finding nemo, the incredibles, etc.

 i was disappointed.   :fogetnah:

i mean it was GOOD but it certainly didn't live up to some of pixar's past movies, or at least it didn't live up to what i was expecting. a LOT of it did, though, especially the first twenty minutes or so. the interactions between wall-e and eve were fucking ADORABLE and the robot designs in this thing were really fucking good.

but the whole environmental message was WAAAY too blatant and over the top. especially after the happening and other movies, the whole thing is just being overdone to the point where it's just fucking annoying and even insulting. IF YOU ARE WATCHING THIS MOVIE YOU ARE A HUMAN AND THEREFORE ARE RUINING THE ENVIRONMENT GET OFF YOUR ASS AND EXERCISE.

as soon as the movie introduced the it seemed to really go downhill for me. the scenes with the robots really were able to keep their charm, but the rest of it was just too unbelievable and hard to really enjoy too much.

so talk about wall-e i guess

I for one was very pleased with this movie ignoring the "Save the World" propoganda. Taking it as an actual film instead of a serious message shoved down our throats I believe Pixar did a great job in this film.

To begin with the relationship between clunky ol' Wall-E and futuristic Eve is just brilliant. Slowly they begin to build a relationship, mostly beause of Eve reluctancy to fall for Wall-E and the film captures it in a cute but also amazing how these two build such a romance. When the finally hold hands it brings a feeling of awe in just how well Pixar captured the emotion in a CG film.

Overall, I believe Pixar deserves an applaud for taking on an such a risky project like this one, and just how well they presented it. Not only do they cross boundaries with the "Save the Planet" deal, and the film exceled in many categories; character development, storytelling, music, and the stunning animation.

I agree with this completely but SO MUCH of the stuff on the sapceship just seriously bogged it all down so bad. If the movie had just kept to the cute robot stuff and left the environmental messages subtle and implied (like the setting of ruined earth itself was amazing) it would have been so much better. It was just so hard to enjoy the movie for being a movie when there were parts where it felt more like some sort of GO GREEN promotion.

I agree exactly that cutting down the promotion of a better planet would have made this film much better than it already was. I do once again though applaud pixar for addressing the problem and attempting to bring it to public view in a motion picture.

WALL-E: A Gloom-E Satire

Perhaps never before has any corporation spent so much money on insulting its customers...
How paying customers will react to being told they’re porky slobs, or are headed in that direction (WALL-E is set 800 years in the future) will depend on how closely the people in the audience ignore the people on screen and concentrate on WALL-E and Eva.

Considering that PIXAR was at least at one time radically pro-abortion (they wouldn’t lease prints of their short films to theaters in some states that held the wrong politics on abortion), it would seem that the death of all people is a goal they actually could see as a positive thing.

When The State provides for us all, things will be better.

I saw Wall·E Today, and that's exactly what came to my mind. The humans on the space ship are what most would become in an Obama presidency.

Evidently, Pixar's new animated feature, Wall-E, contains a scene where the president, portrayed by Fred Willard, issues the line "stay the course" when faced with mission failure. whoever thought it would be cute to throw that line in there is petty and small-minded. At a time when the movie industry needs to get its act together for the sake of its own existence, no one should be intentionally tweaking the opposition in a an animated children's feature.

The fact is, thismovie is left liberals biased because it makes fun of Bush and says corporations are bad, why, this is unamerican and biased, like the left leaning hollyweird media. Here in the Heartland, we are steadfast and true to moral values and to Bush, who is awesome. I hate it when the cultural eleite have to make fun of conservatives and think its funny, its not, boycott them

This movies on 9.3 at IMDB, I was just like holy shit! The animation is absolutely breathtaking and I can't believe how well done it is. But is it true the first 90 minutes has no talking?

I thought it was really good for what it is. I saw it today with my sis and she cried half the time (its too cute)

the message is blatant but I don't mind, it's not like it's a BAD CONCEPT and a lot of it was incorporated very well. actually I think it's better this way, as a major part of the storyline. if it was more *hint hint* mabby you should care about the earth... it would have seemed way pretentious imo, because it's way too simple and obvious a message for SUBTLETY. though my sister did say "I wonder how all the fat people felt" that was a little mean.....

This is one of the only animated movies I've been excited for ever, it looks awesome.

And I only have to wait two and a half months to see it!

It's really not that bad it's just another pixar film. If you don't wanna feel silly going alone take a girlfriend or a younger family member, or go in a large group of friends. But to be honest it's really a decent movie, great CG animation and music, and just an all around bright happy feel around it.

Movie looks great.

I intend to see it sharpish. I'm all for the enviromental message, so as far as i can tell it seems like i've little reason not to enjoy it.

Well, it would have been much to expect the entire movie to lack talking (I think it's entirely possible to accomplish without losing any of the meaning and would have made the movie a super-class act). If it really is that blatant in communicating that message, then it's sad because people in the industry give too little credit to the viewer and his ability to interpret things in a way other than "DIRECT TALKING TO THEM SCRIPT FORM- A.K.A. I AM SAYING WHAT I MEAN RIGHT HERE SO I CAN BE SURE YOU DON'T MISS IT". I guess executives can't help it because any type of entertainment or meaning presented outside of that form seems to elude their industry logic and is becoming rarer and rarer to see.

I'll probably watch it regardless. I was able to predict a lot of that stuff happening as they came out with more previews, so if it dissapoints in that respect, then it won't be a shocking dissapointment. (plus all of that non-talking section of the film is still going to be sweet)

This movie would have been a bajillion times better without the humans.  I know it's probably too much to ask for something this morbid in a kids film but everyone was a fat fuck and totally disgusting.  Humanity shouldn't have been able to survive like that and I'm surprised they were going to build a new earth despite living in a zero G environment for so long (unless the ship exactly replicated Earth's gravity).

But yeah, if this film was totally about the robots I would have been happier.  The "romance" between WALL-E and EVE was both cute and well written.

i took my two kids to see this movie in my H3 and was expecting a good wholesome family experience but instead they got this robot liberal pot-weed thinking planted into their minds and now my kids want to start recycling and to turn the air conditioning off when we're not home where is a good moral loving republican like me supposed to go for a wholesome movie anymore??

Man, this movie was awesome. Not subtle, at all, in it's message, but forgivable. The robots are ADORABLE, and I thought the first 30 mins was absolutely classic. Something that will hold up for years. I really liked how Wall-E 'connected' with people. HE SPREADS LOVE.

But, really, a happy movie. Very enjoyable. The cockroach and Wall-E and that little guy that cleans up after Wall-E make me smile.
