snes roms are actually more like 1 or 2mb in size. although I guess chrono trigger was a reasonably large game and I remember back in the day they used to advertise it as a 256 MEGABIT CARTRIDGE!! on the box (whatever that shit means) so its probably like 5mb at the most.
256mbit? I doubt that because most N64 games were 128mbit. Resident Evil 2 is the largest N64 game at 512mbit (BTW 1mbit is equal to 1024kbit which is equal to 1,048,576 bits and 8 bits = 1 byte and so on).
yeah i have it on the psp and it's like 4. i really didn't know original snes copies of chrono trigger were rare, though!
also, marcus, are you sure valkyrie profile: lenneth is a port? i played a bit of it and i've played a bit of the original and they seemed like entirely different games!
also yeah i think disgaea is pretty rare, roman. probably like $100 or some shit on ebay, although maybe less now that a more functional copy is widely available for the psp. i'm definitely in favor of ports like valkyrie profile/disgaea/fft/ones that in general ADD A LOT and retranslating stories and adding new modes of gameplay do that i think. the problem is only ones that are, like marcus said, lazy as shit and clearly milking the franchise to make a quick buck.
Chrono Trigger isn't rare at all (more than 500,000 copies I read this in some old Nintendo Power magazine from 96 or somethign) but assholes on ebay call anything older than 5 years rare and there's such a huge demand for it the prices go up. Also, no one in the 90s ever kept their box or manual so a complete package boosts the price up by another 30-40% it's ridiculous.
Lenneth was actually the original Japanese version (I.E. HARD version) so that's why it plays differently. And one would think a rerelease would drive down prices but they actually increase them. Atlus recently reprinted SMT:Nocturne but the reprint doesn't include the OST and now idiots on ebay are demanding tons more for it.
Seriously, if you guys want to make some maaaaad money then buy and sell video games on ebay. Most consumers are pretty retarded and will pay any amount for a "complete" package. Recently I sold Final Fantasy 3(6) and the original Nintendo Power promotional strategy guide (which I both bought off Amazon for 60$ total) for 200$ on ebay. Right now I'm collecting every Shin Megami related game released in the states (finding a complete copy of Jack Bros is killing me) and I guarantee I can probably sell it for 600$ plus and I only spent 200$ so far. I also have about 5 complete copies of Earthbound (and I keep buying new copies whenever they show up) and I'm going to slowly release them in the market once it dries up MY GOD I'M A DICK.
God, nerds are so rich but so stupid it's crazy.
EDIT: Videogame selling tips!
Right now the big thing on the market is Metal Gear Solid and old Final Fantasy games. The essentials collection has literally flooded the market and now MGS3 Subsistence (a game that could originally be bought for like 5$ a year ago) is being sold for 30-40$ used if it includes the second disc. The special edition has hit up to 200$ in some sales!
People are also buying up the original black label Final Fantasy ps1 games. A non-greatest hits version of FF7 can net you up to 100$ easy. Final Fantasy X original version has actually gone up to about 30-50$ (the price petered out to about 20$ max recently but once Final Fantasy XIII comes around prepare for it shoot up again). I literally walked into my local gamestop and bought 7 original copies of Final Fantasy X for a total of 20$ (2 for 1 sale) and turned it into 300$ on ebay this shit is ridiculous! RIDICULOUS.
BUYER'S TIPGobble up Resident Evil gamecube versions while you can as the price on those is skyrocketing. I guarantee you once Resident Evil 5 hits the market, the gamecube remakes will hit 70-90$ minimum. The Resident Evil REmake usually goes for around 100$ used. Disgusting yes but man is this easy money!
