Idk, I think either way we won't have a new Chrono Trigger. If the port goes well, then they'll keep on making ports. If it doesn't go well then. Hmm. No one's buying the Chrono Trigger port, guess no one likes Chrono Trigger.

Purists claim Cross works out to little more than fanfiction. I'm pretty sure I read on GW that Radical Dreamers (the basis of Cross) was just that.

Although I haven't played the game... I read the script (translating roms are a nice effort, but I couldn't wait). I know how it plays out. Pokey gets stuck in the absolutely safe machine... and the pin gets pulled anyways and nowhere island (the last bastion of life on earth) is destroyed... and the world starts anew.... etc. That doesn't mean there can't be a prequel that revolves around George, Maria, and Giyig.... or perhaps some of Pokey's mishaps in the TEN THOUSAND YEARS WORTH OF TIME he spent in what has to be at least 4 individual timelines if anything said in Mother could be taken as canon.

take any of the elements you mentioned and imagine a mother game made out of them

It's not a direct follow up. Instead we get this shit with fucking Serge traveling between 2 dimensions(Not a bunch of different time periods) with like a bazillion other people including the effimate Magus wannabe, the alien guy, a scarecrow, ect...

Didn't get too far because it didn't keep my interest, but I know it didn't follow up on Chrono Trigger. It's not a bad game, but imo would've been better if it was an actual sequel.

I replayed CT at least twenty times, but CC will hold a much more important place in my memory as my favourite rpg.  The battle/level up system, magic system, artwork, soundtrack, everything was done so well that I don't think any other rpg will ever feel the same to me.

Edit: I have a feeling most people that liked CT but hated CC only feel that way because it wasn't a direct sequel, thereby ruining their initial impression and experience, not because CC is a bad game.

I said it before and I'll say it again.  Chrono Cross is not a shitty game because it isn't a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger.  I think it's actually a better game.

Cross just shouldn't have been tied to Chrono Trigger's name at all.  If they actually changed the name I probably would have enjoyed it more.  It's not a bad game but when you try to find all the hidden connections to CT you'll come up short and hate Square for using the name as a marketing gimmick.

i thought chrono trigger was a pretty stupid game anyway. it just wasn't that fun and is so vastly overrated! probably one of the most overrated games of all time imo.
