OK so this shit is going into Freeware Fridays later today, but it is so fun I couldn't hold it back much longer.

http://universesandbox.com/

Description:
Smash planets together, introduce rogue stars, and build new worlds from spinning discs of debris. Fire a moon into a planet or destroy everything you've created with a super massive black hole.

You can simulate and interact with:

Our solar system: the 8 planets,160+ moons, and hundereds of asteroids

Nearest 1000 stars to our Sun

Our local group of galaxies

An unlimited number of fictional scenarios

Tinker with your creation or sit back and watch the effects of gravity unfold. It's fun, accessible, and easy to use.

Basically, this game is fucking amazing. There is just so much fun shit to do, and it all is just really really fucking awesome, which begs me to wonder why no one has made anything like this before, it just took 1 guy and 1 year. Just wow.

hahahaha, exploding the sun is awesome, all the stars just seem to "fall" (wanderlessly travel).

Also blackholes will really drop your FPS by a shit ton if you add 2 of them and have everything on.

I need to get some fucking 3D glasses.

I'd love to play this but for some reason the text is obscenely blurry and artifacted.

That was pretty cool, but I couldn't quite GET INTO IT per se. I mean it's cool and I can appreciate it and I'm sure a bunch of people will have fun with it (HL obviously is), but I've never been big on science-y things.

I dunno, cool fun for about twenty minutes but then I got bored. I imagine there's a wealth of options I haven't even begun to explore yet, though!

This game looks gorgeous. Like, usually a word I never use, but it's really impressive.

Gonna give it a DL!

What are all those strange lines in the trailer? Are those the paths the planets follow on their orbits or what?

This was basically my thought on this. It's like those -actual- sand games where you draw lines and make the sand flow into things and stuff. Cool concept and great physics...but just eye candy and frankly not very fun at all.

It's something I'd definitley get. But I can't see myself playing with it very often. You can only "set stuff off" and "watch it happen" for so long before it begins to lose it's appeal.

Nice, this is what I wanted Spore for, but this is better for it! Right on! My dad and friend will really really appreciate this game.
