Japan? But its PS3 exclusive there... some gamers in the US and Europe. But I think it'll be like GTA4 (sell alot of copys without moving many consoles).

Pretty sure it's still the best selling RPG outside Japan (assuming Dragon Quest is more popular in Japan) so I'd say a lot of people. I know I do.

The new FF13 trailer is pretty neat but once again, they aren't really showing anything new. I'd like to see more gameplay and I'm wondering if FF13 has worldmap or will it be linear like FF10, or maybe something similar to FF12.

yeah dude a lot of people care about final fantasy still; i don't know why you'd think they don't! i'd say i'm not one of them, but after the huge step up from ff10 to ff12, i have a vague hope that 13 will continue in the right direction, even though everything else square touches is garbage!

A new Animal Crossing would be much appreciated on the Nintendo front. I second Marcus's sentiments... Mother III to the US would be a godsend.

Maan, developers just don't make games I want anymore.

I'd be excited if Nintendo grew balls and announced a new and ORIGINAL IP which is as ambitious and creative as the past Zelda's and Metroids. I'd be terribly excited if a new Chrono game was announced and a new game from Team ICO. I can't think of anything else that would make me excited especially as I hate most sequels.

You're right in this sense but FF is still a huge draw. I think it has been eclipsed by GTA and such as of late and RPG's aren't SUPER EXCITING to Western audiences like they were when FFVII was announced (because really, although we had a lot of them FFVII really made the mainstream take notice) so the impact won't be as big as that was, but it's still really huge news and I'm extremely happy because now I'll never have to pick up a PS3 as the 360 is pretty much covering everything by the looks of it.

The other news hasn't been crazy exciting but I imagine that'll change with the other conferences tonight.

I get what you mean and you are probably right but about the whole significance thing, I also think that FF feels less important now because I have gotten older and I don't really get overly excited about new games anymore. When I was a kid, I'd always anticipate Final Fantasy much more than I do now plus FF7 was the first Final Fantasy to come out in Europe and got a lot of people in the genre so it feels really significant but as far as sales go, I bet Final Fantasy still carries nearly the same importance as it did when FF7 or FF10 were announced. Both FF10 and 12 sold millions of copies and are probably among the best five selling PS2 titles so I'd say it's pretty clear that FF13 staying exclusive is pretty significant for sales. Now that 360 is getting it and a lot of other RPGs, Playstation doesn't really feel like the RPG console anymore, as it did in the past. Besides, gamers are dumb, they seriously buy consoles because of a single game. In PS3's case, FF13 was THE exclusive (apart from MGS4) so yeah, it was pretty important for Sony. This is going to boost 360's sales and surely will affect PS3's sales as well.
