So apparently the volume 4 dvd was released early.

Way to go, Nick.  Way to go.  The fact that the DVD's were already prepackaged and ready to ship back in March is testament to your faggotry.

So yeah, the Sozin's Comet finale kicked all kinds of ass.

The ending was still pretty open and unsatisfying as a whole.  They defeat Ozai and then... that's it?  Everything falls into place like a puzzle piece?  Even worse is that Aang won because of a Harry Potter-esque deus ex machina.  Worst of all is that the villains lived which isn't far fetched but how do you keep the world's two most powerful psychopaths in confinement and expect them to reform?

There's supposed to be three three hour long mini-series/movies to be released in the future leading up to the movie and there are hints and rumors flying around that one of them will be Zuko's search for his mother (who was pretty much forgotten about except a few name drops after a season 2 episode and the little "cliffhanger" where Zuko asks about her).  I wouldn't mind if one of them tried to cover what the Freedom Fighters did after splitting up/aftermath of Jet.

I was pretty pumped for this finale. I definitely was not disappointed. Kinda sad that the series is over though.

I do agree with you Marcus on it being open ended.  My bro and I were talking about it after the finale and figured they left a pretty big hole simply by leaving the whole Zuko's mother thing without answers other than his asking about her.  Then there is Azula, where was she sent off to?  (unless I missed that part)  But yeah, everything did come to "too perfect" of an ending there.  They left it with the notion that the Fire Nation needs to restore their honor but you would think that many factions of the other nations wouldnt' be so eager to welcome them with open arms like that even with the whole psychological solution of "the Avatar finally brought peace to the world, all is good again."

Oh and yeah, I forgot about Toph.

I liked the ending. I couldn't think of any other way they would/should have ended it.

I actually just spent today and yesterday watching the entire third season, since the last episode I had seen since my bout of sporadic watching was the season 2 finale, and man this show is really good! I really like Zuko's character now that he's not a whiny little emo, and Sokka since he got the cool space sword. I was just disappointed that he never got his sword back from the finale, I liked that thing!

And yeah more of Toph would've been good, but, whatever. Great ending I think, especially the super-powered Zuko vs. Azula.

I think the reason Nickelodean screwed over this show was that they saw from the ratings that the show didn't attract the core audience they are trying to aim at (spoiled, upper-middle class, white 'tween girls).
Who cares that they created a brilliant cartoon (brilliant for a children's cartoon anyway) that attracts a more diverse audience including young adults. Nope, they need to make more half-assed 'tween dramedies starring Miley Cyrus, Jamie Lynn Spears, or whatever new young 'tween who is currently in the spotlight for the next 15 minutes.

However, I do agree that the ending kicked-ass despite its slight cop-out at the end. Even though Aang let the firelord live, the fight scene and final submission he put on him totally made up for it. It would be really cool if they made an actual movie for this later on.

They are making some animated movies, but also M. Night Shymamalan is making a live-action trilogy, so... We'll see how that ends up I guess.

I have a question about bending. Fire bending has Lightning, Earth bending has Metal and Water bending has blood. So Air bending has what? Also i thought the ending was good but was a little bit meh it had a few things left like what happend to azula, Zuko's mother and what happens to toth?
RIP DoktorMartini

Well that's not really it. Fire bending also has the hot blue fire, earth bending has sand and mud (and Toph is the only metal bender), and water bending also has things like vines and stuff. It's really just the elements in different forms. Air is the most flexible, I guess, so it doesn't have any other forms.

Man, this show's finale compelled me in a way that no television series or MOVIE has in years. Absolutely stunning conclusion; Azula's downfall especially had me close to tears. It was just so heartbreaking to see her struggle and claw her way to power only to finally lose her sanity when she obtained it. Gorgeous fight sequences, too.

The color of fire changes with heat with lighter colors (blue and white in particular) being the hottest.  The reason Toph can bend metal is because she can feel the granules of soil in the metal itself.  Water benders don't actually bend the plants, they bend the water inside of the plants.

As far as air bending goes, they can fly and I would trade in anything to have that power.  Even though they do use gliders, Aang can still leap dozens of feet in the air and even control his movements midair so they still have some limited form of flight.

EDIT: I forgot about the hover ball scooter things they can create.  They pretty much have limited flight without the gliders.

Like when the firelord flies at Aang like he's using a jetpack :D
