I just saw these guys (Cloud Nothings) live. They aren't like the greatest band ever but they definitely have some potential and have a few really good songs. This video gives a very poor representation of how freaking loud they are live.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H68CWlE9K40

But I think their opener, a local (Twin Cities area) band named BloodnStuff were the best part of the show. They're a guitar and drum duo and this video doesn't do them justice. They were really neat.

Unless you're being ironic. I didn't think much of those links tbh, a lot of them are just low quality freestyles??

Lil B is a troll, an entertaining troll. Same with Riff Raff.

RVIDXR KLVN are okay. They aren't great rappers, but the production is cool. Even if it is just rehashing the Memphis sound of the 90s.

Green OVA have some jams. They've slowed down with putting out records lately because even they admitted they were just pumping stuff out with no quality control and were writing terrible lyrics because there were trying to take the Lil B route and put out 100 mixtapes a year as their marketing plan. Of course everyone ignored the ACTUAL QUALITY of the material because they were caught up in the hype and jumping on a new artist before anyone else.

They've definitely improved over the past year or so though. Here's their latest video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnjXwqB3mG8&feature=player_embedded

I've interviewed Shady Blaze previously - http://www.jimmyness.com/2012/06/shady-blaze-interview.html

The thing about most of these guys is the internet jumps on them while they are still developing as artists and thus their releases tend to be mediocre and surrounded by hype before they actually have the time to get better. Green OVA recognized this, which is commendable. I can't see RVIDXR KLVN sticking around for more than 3 years, especially once the chopped and screwed trend dies out. A$AP stole their sound, and did it better.

Action Bronson's album is one of the best rap projects of the year imo - http://www.livemixtapes.com/player.php?album_id=16558

xp to hale, I like some rvidxr klvn stuff. I like lofty and themfk.

I don't believe in good or high quality. E.g., I like this, which couldn't be shittier (and this is only marginally better).

Chopped and screwed is maybe seeing a resurgence? I remember it being a big thing seven years ago, too, or at least a thing. I don't follow rap. I used to be on a message board where the biggest assholes were all heads, so I basically stopped listening to rap for years and years because they put me off so much. Also they exotify black people like nothing else and they're not particularly self-aware about it. They would always talk in code language about authenticity and firsties. Oh, I could complain for too long, so I'll stop.

Welcome to both of you btw, I don't think I've seen you around... that's pretty shitty someone put you off an entire genre!

Chopped and Screwed is definitely seeing a resurgence. You've heard of this fellow? Signed for $3 million off the strength of two songs that went viral. Think major labels are struggling on what to with him now though.

Yeah a lot of bloggers do this. Go on four page rants about street credibility while sitting at the library drinking green tea.

Anyone listened to Miguel's new album? I like it a lot. There's some good R&B coming out lately:

Edit: speaking of Green Ova I just remembered I liked this Main Attrakionz song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBRDGSgsOeQ

i'm listening to molly nilsson she's pretty good

here's the big one: http://youtu.be/kPshx-3AFKo

also we all loved the hit track hey moon by john maus right well guess what apparently that was a cover of molly nilsson who wrote/recorded that song a few years ago and it's pretty much identical except for the vocals. i mean i'm not saying this as a bad thing about john maus, i mean hey moon is no cop killer but i thought it was interesting.
