"make me an offer" is not equivalent to "i will take any price you want guys!!!! go ahead take my house as well!"

yeah but considering the best (serious) offer in this topic seems to have been $50, saying you want $800 is a bit of a stretch

but then again he could have gotten other offers PMed or something so who knows

The ONLY offer he got was $50. And just because $50 was all that was offered, doesn't mean that's all he's going to get.

I could probably set up Yahoo ads, but it'd be sweet if you'd do it for me. Do you know how much more they'd net than adbrite?

Anyway, I can almost definitely go for $800. It all depends on my dad, though if he isn't willing to loan me that much I could pay you ~$100 every month and have a bit of interest or something, if you're willing to not get it all at once.

I'll get back to you as soon as I know exactly how much my dad is willing to loan me.

It blows my mind that he is willing to pay that much.

Seriously.

Unless this site has some HUGE FOLLOWING I'm not aware of, there's no way it's worth all that.

what i especially don't get is why his dad is going to loan him even $100 for this, much less $800

i mean it's not like it's an investment, the money you make off this site just pays for the hosting, you're making like a $5 per year profit

it's more like he's giving you an $800 present, and shit dude, my family has quite a bit of cash and they'd never do that for me, what kind of dad has $800 for you to blow on a website that isn't paying him back?

It's not making a profit now, but that could be changed with new ownership, like previously stated. And sites don't have to make a huge profit to be beneficial. I wonder how little profit this site makes?

im not saying that the site isnt worth $800, it absolutely is worth AT LEAST that

but buying it without a clear plan on how to make it profitable seems like a bad idea

Providing the ads he listed above are the only income, only four or five months of the year make enough to cover the hosting.

Yeah, I guess I didn't think about the new ownership difference, but even still...

soolar, ill break it down for you now.

Ad Revenue past 12 Months:

$10.68 - August 2007
$12.49 - September 2007
$9.52 - October 2007
$10.20 - November 2007
$10.53 - December 2007
$5.67 - January 2008
$5.23 - February 2008
$9.81 - March 2008
$6.98 - April 2008
$8.91 - May 2008
$11.23 - June 2008
$6.74 - July 2008 (So Far)

I advertise with adbrite. They're shit. You should go with yahoo ads and you will make more, I would have gone with them myself but as I dont live in the US I dont apply. If you were to set up a yahoo account and wanted me to add the code in before handing it over, I could do that. OR, you could do it yourself, I think you're quite tech savvy no?

Hosting costs are $9.95 a month, that's not about to change. The domain has been recently renewed so you dont have to worry about that for another year, and when that time comes it'll cost $9 to renew for another year. If you renew for longer you get it relatively cheaper.

So basically at the moment the advertising covers the hosting costs. Being the dick head I am though, Ive been trying to cash American cheques from Adbrite in England and havent had any luck. So Ive been paying out of pocket. For you though, this would cover it, and with yahoo ads you'd make a profit. There are opportunities with the hosting account from referrals too, I have made $98 from one referral.

I was looking to make as much as possible (obviously). The hosting account should pretty much go to you for free, so you're paying for the community and the code I wrote for the site itself. A few months back I sold the uiv2.com domain alone for $800. Since I'm looking for a quick and easy sale, I'll be willing to sell the site itself for the same amount.

The domain uirpg is pretty fucking useless to be honest. So, the website makes on average $8.99 a month. So it doesn't even cover the hosting costs. So you're paying $1 a month, plus the $9 to renew the domain - that's $21 a year in the red. So you want someone to pay $800 for the privilege of taking the aforementioned costs off your hands for a piece of shit website that at the moment has only 10  users online, 9 of which are guests?

How the fuck can you justify that? It's not worth $8. It looks like a piece of random generated blah blah here's some motherfucking gaming resources.

Soolar, if you seriously got together with your dad to seriously discuss the purchase of a shitty website that involved charts, graphs and income, than you must not live in a very smart household.

$800 my ass.

It has a mild following ;-)
Like I said though, you're paying for the community, the traffic (the domain), the established resources and THE CODE.

Switching from adbrite would change this.
Im not sure what caused the low income in April 2007 but January-February 2008 was when the new domain came in I believe, so bound to be less hits on the whole. No pun intended.

The traffic stats are getting close to what they were for uiv2.com, a domain alone which sold for $800 on a domain marketplace type of website. To a reasonable degree at least, these buyers know their stuff.

Beauty is not skin deep, my friend. You say it looks like a piece of shit website blah blah bollocks, but that's not the point. Fact is that people like it, and thats reflected in various stats. Alot of work has gone into it in various forms. The most obvious and pricable bit of work would be the coding, but then it extends to other more abstract and unpricable things like podcasts, something we were onto long before any other rpg making sites I know of. Read above as far as hosting costs vs ad revenue goes.

Point is its easily worth $800, and its certainly a far cry away from (and on the better side of) $55.

I probably wouldn't even pay $800 for GW, and it's definitely more worth it.

I haven't logged in three years. I'll bet no one even know who I was then, but I was made aware of this thread and that's all that matters.

I'm considering either raising the $50 bid or going in with TFT if they'll allow. I think I could make this profitable by switching hosts and adding "premium content." I would like better data on traffic, however. Number of total and unique hits, visitor locations, visitor loyalty percentages, percentage of visitors that click on ads. Amount of data transfered and storage used would also be needed, along with information regarding the current hosting plan. That sort of thing.

Why are you posting this here? You know you're just going to get laughed at by most people here (or, by the looks of things, most people anywhere period). Did you try your own site and forums to see if anyone wants to buy it there?

a fully coded site with a full CMS such as UI is worth over $800 on its own you idiot, if he made the website as a job he would be fetching over a grand for his work

add in an already established community and the fact that its proven not to be a loss maker adds even more value
