I'm playing through on hard mode and for some reason, I can't find all the control panels I need to shoot out on the Shell 1 and 2 connecting bridge.

There's one on the Cypher above the bridge (the only Cypher in the area)
Another to the left of the Shell 2 entrance
Behind the Sons of Liberty flag
Behind seagulls, to the right of your platform straight across on the other side. Just shoot the seagulls out the way
Next to the Shell 2 entrance, in the middle of some Semtex (pretty obvious where this one is)
Above the Shell 1 entrance (turn round and look up!)
Down the stairs, on the column opposite you
Two lined up against the wall, pretty simple to spot these
Last one, back up the stairs and onto the left of the platform. Look past the central column and you'll see it on the walkway

I think that's all of them!

Never play Extreme (was it "English Extreme"?) mode, because you will NEVER EVER finish it. The game is playable, but, at the end, where you have to press the button rapidly to "not choke", its IMPOSSIBLE.

Me and my 2 best friends couldn't pass that one. I pressed for like, 30 seconds, then one took over for another 20 seconds, and another took over from him for another 20 seconds, and STILL we couldn't beat it. (this wass consecutively, not alternating)

I got stuck on that for such a long time, in the end I had to get someone else to do it because my fingers were too abused by it even if I did the looking to the bottom left of the screen thing.

I just realized that every Metal Gear Solid game has a torture scene where you have to jam on a button.

MGS1: Ocelot torture rack
MGS2: Solidus chokes out Raiden
MGS3: Volkov punching the barrel
MGS4: Crawling through the microwave room

There is some way around this by holding the "item select" button, if I remember correctly. It is in the speedrun, so you might be able to figure it out from that.

European Extreme mode can be beaten. I don't know how to get past the torture scene, but it's been done numerous times. I once uploaded a run by a Japanese player called Takeshi in which he gets Big Boss rank in MGS2 on Extreme difficulty (he also doesn't take any damage): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSJguEjH6mA&feature=PlayList&p=A7422E60F8FC3918&index=0&playnext=1

I heard some other guy is almost done with releasing a run that beats Takeshi's and is done on European Extreme, but I don't know when he will.

If you held down the item selection or something during the MGS3 torture where you have the bag over your head and volgin fries you, you dont lose any hp or something like that.

No, actually, you DID lose hp, but because of "lousy programming of the RPGMAKER variety", the healthbar isn't updated until you let go.

Guess they shulda paid more attention to their parallel processing lol

I guess it's really meant to be torture.
Thank god Metal Gear Solid : Portable Ops doesn't have a torture sequence. I'd probably end up chucking my PSP. Much more dangerous than a Dual-Shock. :\

Well, there was a torture sequence in MGSPO (when whats-his-face steps on Snake's balls) and I was literally expecting a button sequence but thankfully they left it out.

I can spasm my hands fast enough to mash the buttons just right

I couldn'tt mash the buttons fast enough on Hard. I just got STUCK there

There went my "unlock all secret thingies spree". Atleast I got to play around with Stealth device a bit.

Heh, I love how the birds don't trigger the laser alarms (rpg maker parody anyone?). Also, I expect a parody about the next scene, where you're crossing the pipe that the birds decide to shit all over so it's fricking impossible to cross (because it is anyways). There are so many things wrong with this game I'ma shit myself and play it again.
