i don't know how to embed videos but don't let that turn you off cause these are good tracks (and artists).

Rammellzee is probably my favorite for a bunch of reasons, he's just my idol... performance, writer, sculptor. he's just an artist of all kinds. here he is again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPnmyLaNvvw

why does nobody ever mentioned the roots on gw. i love the roots.
i think its probably because it is sort of assumed everyone likes the roots and that is not really too interesting to talk about.  i am kind of half-expecting steel to come in and be like ROTS SUCK or something but he is probably puking somewhere so maybe not.  i just... i miss his violent dissent of music so much

I DONT LIKE THE ROOTS, I met ?uestlove once and he was pretty aloof. also the Roots get kind of samey and its sort of like once you heard them, there's not really much else to go for.

is this post good enough panda...

talking about music is pretty BOOOOOOOOOOOOORING anyway, i don't know why people do it outside of asking for and recommending stuff, or maybe when you're really into a particular band and want to know their life story or whatever. i just thought it was weird that i have never seen them mentioned here. i mean they probably have been but people throw around common and nas and wu tangers all over the place and the roots are just as good as those guys. but that's coming from a guy who ((take this)) still loves the roots.

it's good to talk about shit, man.  basically the only reason darkwhite and i still talk to each other at all is because we both play guitar and have nearly identical taste in music and it is just good to be able to be like MAAAAN THE CHORUS FROM MONKEYLAND IS SO GOOD and have him be like yeah i love that shit this whole album is great i really like paper tigers and then i say yeah paper tigers is awesome these guys are brilliant.  it sounds kind of masturbatory but i just think it is good to have an outlet for talking about stuff you like.

also that'll do steel... that'll do

Yeah, The Roots are definitely one of those groups where I play their albums heaps when they come out and then I'm pretty much done with them until their next album.

They do have that great organic vibe that works really well with their topics though and they're very consistent.

i dont like it when they are "rock" or when they are "r&b" but rather when they sound like rap music, which is unfortunately rare

i haven't listened to that much of them though, to be honest

Basically most of the Stones Throw stuff is really good.

Madvillain:

(This is my favorite video clip ever.)

J Dilla:
A producer who turned everything into gold that he touched.  I don't think I've ever heard even one boring thing by him.
This video was posthumously made, the guy you see is his younger brother.

Slick Rick is cool too.

Man there's like hundreds of things I could link to but I don't have the time right now!
