Well a few days ago, I started playing this again. And so far I'm upto year 7, and I'm going to attempt the 2 levels nearest to the Fifth Element miasma stream.

But one thing I have to ask is how long is the game itself? I've been around all the map area I can, I currently have the Clavat Rune Weapon, which I'll possibly trade out for a new weapon, if I get the materials, and I've got many of the strength artifacts, 2 Pockets and 3 Pendants. So how much more game time is left? At the moment I think I might need to go back to the Desert level and search around some more, see if I missed anything. Even though I hate the boss, it took me 3 of my Pheonix downs (Although I can just keep getting them from the first stage), bloody petrification breath, ARGH!

You could always check GameFAQs?

I remember the last level being ridiculously long and starting out on a volcano or something.

I always thought you could play the game as long as you wanted, it's just that each new "year" that begins causes the current miasma streams to change elements.  If you're far enough, you can go ahead and tackle the final area and boss, you just need to know what to do in that one desert area to acquire the Holy element in order to bypass the final miasma stream.  (if I'm remembering right, it has been a while)

Only so few artifacts? You're going to be having a tough time on cycle 3 in most areas. You need to repeat a few levels to get more artifacts to boost your character. The final area and bosses are actually quite hard for weak characters. And have a few cheap attacks to nail even high level (lots of artifacts) characters. So going into the final area is no simple decision, you go in for keeps.

Funnily enough I was just asking 'cause I found myself next to the final Miasma stream, and wondered how much more of the game I had to go through.

I've got alot of the strength artifacts to be more exact, any oppurtunity other than the pockets and pendants, I've picked a strength artifact, I'm just running quicklyy out of artifacts to take that increase my strength, so I'm gonna pump Def soon.

Also, are any weapons better than the Rune Sword? I'm using that and found it owned the Demon's Court boss in no time. If so, can any be made using the family? I took a Blacksmith family, but I'm tempted to make 7 other character's just to fill the town up.
