About the tunings, sometimes they have "catchall" tunings that they throw the songs into during performances, at least on the older material. The GGDDee songs can still be played on the F#F#F#F#F#F# guitars, etc. If I remember correctly, the reason that New York City Ghosts and Flowers was such a reboot for them - was that during the preceding tour their van full of their army of hot-rodded strangely tuned guitars was stolen.
