http://kotaku.com/5037984/nearly-150-screenshots-of-fallout-3-leaked

I'm still browsing through them, and so far I am impressed.  Despite the entire perspective change, it appears they're really captured the bleak atmosphere of the first two games.  Checking out the dialouge, it seems they've maintained some of the madcap writing that was so iconic to the first games.

My only qualms so far (aside from the most-likely bastardized combat system) is that it looks like there is a little hand-holding going on with the beginning of the game, which pisses me off.  I guess its to be expected with gamers nowadays, people just can't be assed to crack open an instruction manual.

So what does everyone think?
keep posting...

yeah this really looks a lot like oblivion now. i'm all right with that, i liked the way oblivion played just fine. it was just the inane fantasy stuff i didn't like, and this doesn't look like it will have as much of that kind of problem. i can't really tell what the dialogue will be like yet (i've only looked at a couple dozen screens), but it looks more interesting just by virtue of not being fantasy, cos it's really easy to make that awful and it's hard to make post-apocalypse boring. the characters are also a lot better looking than they were in oblivion.

anyway from the looks of the it the gameplay won't be anything new but that was never why i was interested in this. i'm gonna go look at some more of the screens now.

The screen shots look pretty good.  The people's faces still look a bit "Oblivion-ish-y" but massively improved (hopefully they don't/didn't make the bad decision to make everyone look/sound the same like in Oblivion.

Either way I'm looking forward to this.  There's just one thing I'd like to know.  How are they implementing real-time targeting with the VATS targeting.  They'll need a way to balance that, imo.

Also, Perks at level 2?  Does this mean perks every level, other level, or something else?

Either way I am looking forward to this...  it's one of the reasons I bought a new PC (that and my old one can't run new games on Medium without stuttering.)

Yeah I agree once more with the oblivion looking sort of style of the game, but I don't have any qualms with that.  I've been looking forward to this game for quite a while now, and this is making it look more and more appealing once more

Oh god, I bet the NMA guys are killing themselves en masse over this.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

VATS pauses the game in slow motion.  It drains from a meter and the more you use it the lower your accuracy drops until you rest.

Also perks are obtained at every level.  This was announced a long time ago but the developer said they directly affect the game unlike the originals which had a handful of useless perks and the rest were completely throw away (Kama Sutra master alright!)

I don't think I've seen a topic regarding this yet.

I think it LOOKS nice. I think it's pretty confirmed already it's just oblivion with guns but the thing I am most pissed about is that the dialogue looks godawful.

well idk.  like the dialogue does look godawful but it's to the point of almost seeming not serious/tongue-in-cheek, which is infinitely more acceptable than just being earnest and actually bad.  anyway like many others have said i am totally okay with this not being like the previous fallouts since i enjoyed dicking around in oblivion and would like it a lot more outside of a high fantasy setting, and did not particularly enjoy the type of game fallout 1 and 2 were with the whole tedious turn-based combat and mouse-based movement thing.

Maybe my standards are lower or something but the little bit of dialog there doesn't seem bad at all.  I'm not expecting shakespeare to spew from the mouths of every deadbeat layman you find in the post-nuclear America of tomorrow and things seem to be pretty short and simple which is what I expect.  It's probably a lot different hearing the dialog than actually reading it but when you think about the pre-2000 BioWare games like Baldur's Gate the dialog is all really long and dry.  Don't get me started on Planescape Torment which is one of my favorite games but every idiot, thug, and prostitute spoke like they had 10 years experience in theater with a masters in literature.

Also, and I point this out to pretty much everyone, Fallout's dialog felt like it was written by a highschooler and this isn't necessarily bad considering it's a world full of lowlifes and uneducated curs.  Outside of the 40 or so NPCs that actually spoke to you in length, the regulars had nothing interesting to say at all.  People make fun of one of Oblivion's dialog options ("I saw a mudcrab the other day") and I could swear on my life that one of the random quips in Fallout is "I saw a radscorpion THIS big..."

HJey now, all those thugs did have 10 years of experience in theater and had masters in lit, ok!

This looks pretty damn nice.

I think it was Arcanum that had a thug named something-the-witless who graduated from some academy and spat out these big words I had to bust out a dictionary to understand.

I just hope the humor in this game isn't as immature as Fallout 2 which took things pretty far (getting raped by a mutant who leaves a ball gag in your inventory, ew).  Already I can see a stat that says "corpses eaten."

Lukan the Witless, and the joke is that the words he is using don't make sense in the context he is using them in. A lot of the words are made up and he muddles up words thinking he is some kind of genius. It's actually quite funny. And on a whole the dialogue in Arcanum is awesome.

marcus do you really think the dialogue is good, man?  like some of the options for what your dude can say are terrible.

like, seriously.  it's not good, but i kind of think it is intentional.  like, campy.

I'm saying I couldn't think of a way to rewrite it without completely destroying the feeling of basically being in the wild west (albeit a destroyed one).

The options in that picture you posted accurately mimic some of the actual choices you're given in Fallout (I'm 100% positive one of the quests can actually end with you saying "Die, asshole" and in Junktown you can make stupid comments about that fat guy regarding his "rolls" quite similar to making fun of the Sheriff's hat in that picture).

I mean "Can't tell the difference between me and a feral?  Fine, I'll show you the goddamn difference!  Just you wait!  You'll get yours!  ALL OF YOU!" sounds like something a pissed off burn victim would say to me if I were to suddenly make fun of his condition.  I'd probably reply with "Yeah, whatever buddy" and if that in turn makes bad dialog then I don't know what to say.

To sum up my argument, it sounds natural.  Quick, snappy, and surly.  I don't expect anything else from a game that takes place in a shithole.

Looks pretty good. I also get the feeling the dialogue is sort of intentionally campy. If that's not the case, then it's pretty silly. All the same, the gameplay shots look pretty swell.

Of course, as its been said, this will do NOTHING to help those people crying bloody freaking murder over Bethesda and their new direction for the Fallout franchise. Yes, it's Oblivion with guns, time to deal folks!
WHY SO SERIOUS HAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
