I actually saw that tour. He was pretty good. Acute was pretty terrible, and The Appleseed Cast blew me away, as always.

yeah, I really wasn't fond of Acute, but mike kinsella killed it and the appleseed cast did pretty great too. i couldn't get over how laid back the show was, considering i typically frequent hardcore and metal shows.

wow

I wanted to say something in this topic but it was kind of hard after reading this in the lyrics in the first post.  That's one of the cheapest, worst lines I've ever read in a song.

"HEH...A SEA...OF METAPHORIC BULLSHIT..."

I haven't read this topic at the risk of it being another argument about how pop-punk isn't punk and how much of a contradiction that is etc etc. I did however search the topic for the name 'The Thermals', and since it hasn't been mentioned, I will say this.

THE THERMALS. They're a real good band. Certainly check all the right punk boxes fo sho. Yet, the pop sensibilities their music embues also leads one to hover the pen above the pop box too. What a quandry indeed. I saw them last year. They were fantastic. I also met the bass player. She was nice. Here be a song.

Also has Ted Leo been mentioned? Because the same really applies to him. He's awesome.

Man, how did I miss this topic.

I'm a huge fan of poppunk, I really like NOFX and Goldfinger a lot.
It just kinda sucks, and it's evident in this topic, pop punk suffers a lot because it doesn't have its own name. It's like any conversation about pop punk will be turned into a genre fight within minutes. Even people who listen primarily to pop punk are half the time saying "eh this band is good but this band is a little too poserish for me."

PS. i think TFT has a simple plan song on his myspace.

I like how every one of these "genre" topics starts with shep coming and saying "THIS IS NOT THE CORRECTLY LABELLED GENRE."

way to go you're a dick.

i think it's commonly pop rock too maybe more fitting?

EDIT: Although I guess pop rock is broader and includes a lot of alt shit too.

i still like dream theater

i really like dream theater's stream of consciousness. i also like a lot other music though. i like a lot of shitty street punk bands. i also like can and other trippy bands. i think i like everything, even country. i used to dislike rap but i like GZA a lot.

actually i think i dont like pop punk. its pretty gay and reminds me 7th grade girls. i like real raw punk with people that can¿t really play their guitar.
