A lot of people want Soul Calibur 4 to come to the Wii, but I think it's a good decision that it didn't come to a Wii. If it did, it would probably be an extremely watered down version, compared to the 360 versions and such. First you'd have to say goodbye to 1 of either 2 things, either character customization or customized characters having endings. But yeah, I could live with the later being taken away or them making some completely new ending that doesn't actually SHOW the customized character.
The reason customized characters having endings on a Wii version like they do on the 360 wouldn't work, is because SC4's cutscenes are real-time. Now if a Wii version was made, Namco Bandai would probably end up converting all the endings for regular characters into FMV's. After all, the character roster isn't humongous and endings as FMV's are something that even PS2 fighting games could do. However, this couldn't be done with custom characters, unless EVERY single outcome was made into an FMV file. And god knows the Wii's graphics can't handle running the cutscenes in real time, with the same quality as the PS3 and 360 versions.
Now online COULD be retained if a Wii version was made, so that's not a problem. It would depend on if Namco Bandai wanted to put the work in to include it. And obviously, the graphics would have to be WAAAAAY watered down compared to the other next gen versions.
So basically a Wii port of Soul Calibur 4 would possibly mean...
- Watered down graphics.
- Possibly no endings for custom characters.
- Possibly a few things taken out to save memory.
- Possibly character endings being FMV's and not real time.
Otherwise as far as I'm concerned, they can do a good port of SC4 to Wii.
