I just got the game on Friday and I'm loving it. The first few levels failed to impress me but it gets so much more fun. I haven't tried making own level yet or using any of the community features yet but the story mode is seriously awesome, and I really dig the amount of minigames it got. Too bad the story mode is on the short side and waaaaaay too easy. :( But there are lots of hidden items and the game has replay value.

Question by the way. Once you register online or whatever, will all the story mode levels show other players' high scores?

Probably if you play said levels while online. I'll check tonight, since I haven't tried this either.

Yeah, you can compare your scores online, although I personally don't care if I'm like #13,117 on pretty much all of them.

lol same here man. I only manage good scores on editor-made levels. Well... The ones I finish. Sick of playing levels that start out great and were clearly rushed at the end and untested.
Actually, I hate WIP levels most of all. Some people are just looking for a quick jerk off before releasing their levels for real, I guess.

Isn't that exactly what a WIP release is for? ;/

I published a level, so go play it, bitches. It's called "Templarion" for no real reason. It turned out pretty well considering I was still figuring a lot of stuff out (when I started it I didn't know how to make materials thinner or thicker than "1" and wasn't used to how switches/movers interacted) and didn't plan it out before I began. I got some good ideas for future levels, too.

You use the X button to jump, which is regulated by how hard you press the button.

Pressure sensitive buttons? Is this a PS3 feature I wasn't aware of? Or did you mean how long you held the button?

I'm pretty sure there was something like that in some PS2 titles like MGS2 and 3 where you had to carefully let the button up to cancel a shot in the first person view. And if it was indeed pressure sensitivity there (I can't really think what else it could be) then I bet PS3 also has this feature.

MGS had alot of pressure sensitive shit. A whole, whole lot.

So yeah, PS23 pads are really pressure sensitive. Every button, not just the analog triggers.

Yeah pressure sensativity has been around since PS2. A ton of games used it, like MGS2-3, Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto 3+, and Ico/Shadows of Colossus (I think. I know it had longevity pressing at least... IE: hold to jump far, press lightly to hop)
In LBP it is a key feature.

On Another Note, it should be said that I won't be online for a long while. My PS3 finally knocked into the Disc Read Error (AKA the Sony Red-Ring-o-Death). Meaning some dust or moisture got on the ultra sensative bluray reader inside, and now it won't read any disc regardless of what it is.
If anyone has a solution for this doomsday event, please let me know before I ship it off to Sony for a fix/buy a new one.

Yeah MGS2 used the pressure sensitivity a lot, but I didn't notice any in MGS4 (like how you could lower your weapon instead of fire if you just eased slowly off the trigger.) I don't think they use it in LBP either, since you jump higher by holding the button longer and not mashing it harder. In fact, I'm not entirely certain that the PS3 has pressure sensitive buttons, although it seems like it would since it's, you know, an upgrade from the PS2.

PS: new level out. "Conveyor Challenge". Basically you navigate obstacles as they come towards you on a conveyor belt. Took me like 18 hours, so play it!

It's pretty fun playing random levels people have made online. I like to find the stuff with barely any plays and see what kind of shit has been come up with. Even though the vast majority are really crappy and unpolished, it's cool anyway because every level is different, and you never know what you'll see (people sure like to put rockets and ramps in their levels though.) The game really is like a journey into imagination-land.

I like how GW is the only gaming forum in the universe not bitching for 20 pages on how Sony deletes some levels and thus the game sucks.

No really I like that cause I'm tired of arguing with a bunch of 13 years old being sad for having their precious(and oh fuck so "imaginative") Mario/Sonic/MGS LBP levels deleted. That and flaming cocks levels.

Were there some deleted? I haven't noticed, since there's such a constant influx of good, original levels.

That's exactly why I'm pissed at people complaining.

Is it worth getting a PS3 solely for this game?

probably not, but if you don't already have a 360 or are willing to trade it in then I'd recommend it because it's a really neat piece of hardware and this game is a lot of fun.

no videogame is worth 400 bucks, but this game is pretty much everything I like about gamin': You can just pick it up and play random levels online to kill time and the multiplayer is really fun

I've been playing this for about 2 days straight now. I love it!
The actual story mode isn't that much fun but playing other peoples levels is. Spent most of my time today building a level together with a friend of mine and we managed to do some really cool things. It's hilarious when some things backfire on you but also very satisfying when you get it done right.

Hard to say if it's worth buying a PS3 for.. it depends on if you think you might get bored with it. I don't own one myself but this could be THE game for me in order to buy a console.

Like DietCoke said, no videogame is worth 400 bucks.
Decide between ps3 and 360 based on the series' you prefer. Both systems have more or less the same games, save a handful on either side. With Sony you get your God of War, Gran Turismo and Ratchet+Clank fix. With 360 you get your Gears of War, Fable and Halo fix. Depends what you like really.
LittleBigPlanet is just the ultimate icing to the Sony cake. And I read they already started a sequel (not surprising considering how long this one took to make). So, I guess this is the next big Sony franchise (seeing as Sony's putting so much money in MediaMolecule's pocket, a la Bungie+Microsoft)
