CASE IN POINT, THIS VERY THREAD where steel mentions shrek which is goddamn colossal franchise at this point as a viable alternative to pirates. explain to me how it works out that we hate everything popular if steel, the most vocal of the minority you're talking about, likes shrek and iron giant (these are both mainstream as FuCk). btw i like a lot of mainstream stuff too but most of it's garbage. that's going to happen when the average person is probably about as smart as you and everything has to be designed to fit that intelligence level, though. it is not about it being mainstream so much as it is about it being mass-marketed to the lowest common denominator (thats you). that is what makes it bad.
On the subject "Popular stuff suck", that is also true in many cases. Look at any topic that has "Final Fantasy" in it. Most people end up saying negative things but in the end they all appear to have played the so-called-shit. Weird, huh...
