Now, after having lived for two decades, nothing can make me quite as old as rekindling an old hobby (In this case playing and tinkering with RPGMaker games, mostly 2k/3) I discover that most of the games I liked to play are gone... they've vanished off the face of the internet. I was able to find A Blurred Line, but no others. I also discover to my horror that GW.net is a blog, RPG-advocate is shut down, and most of the sites in between are either full of dead links, or dead themselves.
I can admit to some extent that The RPGmaker programs were a fad, yes. But there are alot of games that I have saved ages ago, but have been lost in HDDwipes.
I'll mention a few.
There was one Final Fantasy Fan game that was actually GOOD, it ran as a standalone game.
Another was a game were you were a female pilot, I don't remember if she was actually the captain or not, but I digress. What happens is that they crashland on a very pseudo medieval planet and stuff starts getting interesting. I think it was called Extrenia, but I really don' t recall.
There was another one that was linked on RPG Advocate's page for ages, which I remember had very impressive Facesets. Seriously! Like every character. Battles were a bit boring though, so I never finished it. I think it was a 2k game, which was even more impressive all things considered.
You know what I would really like? For nostalgic purposes, I'd like someone to round up their old games/Resources/Whatever collection of the old 2000 and 2k3 stuff. You know? So that it isn't forever lost in the depths of the internet. It needs to be saved SOMEWHERE.
I suppose a part of me is clinging to this particular point in my life... but I remember how happy RM2k made me. And I miss it. Alot. I mean, heck, they weren't the best games in the world, but some of them were really good!
Anyways, Sorry about the rantathon. If you'd like to chip in, I'd appreciate it. Now I'ma nip off to bed.
