Phantasy Star Zero is the next portable outing for phantasy star but it will have one thing over the recent PSP phantasy star: Online Servers! It will also be a bit less futuristic than the games before(although you can be a robot) and you will use metal swords instead of beam swords. This will be the DS's first MMORPG and it looks pretty damn sweet! Here is a video:

You can chat like in picto chat.

There will be 3 buttons assigned for certain actions, mainly attacks.

This news, along with the announcement of the DSi is great. I have been putting off getting a DSlite for a while now, and now I have a reason. Also, an MMO on the DS? This sounds great.

I don't think this would work very well. The picto-chat has nothing on a keyboard as far as communication goes. Does this even support the use of the microphone? Communication is very important in an MMORPG!

I'd imagine it would considering the ds has a built in mic.

Anime Cut-Ins = Off putting
I would much rather keep playing Blue Burst on privete servers than this. The DS just isnt suited to MMOs.

The videos look pretty slick and the game looks pretty good for a DS title.  Not sure how I feel about the new art direction compared to PSO, but I have no issues with making a RAmar look like a cowboy.  Photon based six shooter, here I come!

I know that, but did they have this pseudo chibi glossy look to them?  I wasn't so much touching on the fact it had an anime style to it, just that it's something different.

But really, I only play my DS when I'm in transit, so MMO's are out of the question.

I reckon I'll probably get this. Mainly because I play my DS often when I have a good game to play.

Not sure how this will turn out though, I suppose they would have to rely on instanced areas to keep lag away.
