wait i dont get it. what elite suit? was it a download to CHEAT THROUGH THE GAME or something, because I've got a level 2 suit and yeah I had to drop ammo or not pick it up early on.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game got an exclusive suit for each console that you could download for free.
I'm annoyed that Fire Mage pointed out that they cost money now...

man I reread this topic and all of you talking about on anything other than hard you dont run out of ammo. what? I run out all the time, and it's not like I miss a lot.

granted it's probably because they give me ammo for the guns I don't like as much (I'm all about the pistol first and then the line gun) and just keep on me. if you just have like two guns on you, do they only drop those two guns ammo because I'll play like that instead if so and I haven't seen any flamethrower fuel since I stored it away so maybe?

If you stick to one or two guns you will run out of ammo very fast. When I was playing I rotated my guns consistently, mainly because your inventory fills up really fast if you don't. You pick up a ridiculous amount of ammo in the game (at least on Normal), the problem is that it's all for different weapons, so you're almost forced into using all the tools at your disposal. I think it keeps it kind of fresh; it's kind of boring to use the same two guns over and over and over again. The only weapon I never used once was the flamethrower, and I used the linegun for a little while before I put it into my safe and never touched it again.

i mean i was on normal and i used the pistol all the way, never bought another gun.

maybe it's just cause i downloaded the elite suit thing, cause i was able to store up extra ammo for other guns and sell it later to buy more pistol ammo.

On normal the pistol never left my Inventory. I would throw other weapons in there to see how they went and also when i built up Stupid amounts of ammo for a weapon i didn't like.

If you cant find ammo for the gun you like you can always sell off ammo for weapons you dont use and then use that credit to buy ammo for your pistol.
Or you can do what i did and save for those Fucking Nodes.

oh so you bought pistol ammo. I thought you guys just all found it. yeah it's easier when you buy the ammo.

also nope belross! I only occasionally pick up ammo for a gun I don't have; in order to make things easy the game limits your ammo finds to whatever gun you have equipped. I just use the force gun and the pistol now (the grenades on the force gun make crowds disappear) and I rarely run out of ammo. run low, but rarely out. I did run out once on a tentacle babby in a zero g thing but that's because i suck at aiming in zero g where they are sideways and upside down.

I really enjoy the pistol/cutter btw. the alt fire switching directions is a stroke of genius. like when people talk about GAME INNOVATION they ignore little shit like this, but this game would suck with its BLOW OFF LIMBS gimmick if the guns weren't as neat as they are. the pistol's easily the coolest though. the ripper's range is too hard to figure out when you're in 3d and firing forward; in that stage with the immortal zombie I was forced to use it and it took way too long to sever his legs because he moves forward and the blade is now behind him so I have to move back blah blah.

I'm surprised it took that long for someone to post that. Really the ONLY two weapons you need are the plasma cutter and the pulse rifle. Everything else is just too fucking slow/weak/oh god I've blown my own face off to matter. Plasma cutter works for pretty much every single situation except OH FUCK THERES 30,000 ENEMIES where it's fun to hit the alt fire on the pulse rifle and cry in a corner.

Also after getting through the horrible crashy bridge section, I've now just arrived . But it crashed again. Gonna try and finish it tonight. The SCARE FACTORY of the game has pretty much gone away with fully upgraded suit, guns, 5 big medikits and a million bullets, and I'm only really dying to mechanical devices by accident now. The last few chapters have played more like a romp than the survival horror glory of the earlier chapters. :( (I blame the shop for this, like most people). I think the game is too easy on normal personally, but I don't know if I would want to replay it again on hard as it's so linear. Still, even if it's formulaic, unoriginal and unscary it's still creepy as fuck. Particularly

I'm totally used to the controls now, but I still think this would be better in first person (if they figured out how to get the health meter on screen without a GUI still).

Also, regarding the 'invincible' enemy

aw damn why'd I read that spoiler, now I know it comes back. oh well.

also the pulse rifle? really? that thing's kind of hot garbage, why would you use that instead of the force gun which shoots grenades or the line racks which carve dudes in half?

Because when it's full upgraded you get something like 175 bullets in it, which means you never run out of ammo and have to reload in a fight...not that it matters because you reload so damn fast. It's also immensely powerful and you can kill most enemies just as quick (if not quicker) with a spray to the face(or chest) than aiming for their limbs. It's also more useful for the smaller crawly enemies.

Especially in bigger fights later on against fast enemies..you just don't have time to aim. :( You can still cut off limbs with the pulse rifle too.

Just beat the game. My savegame wasn't actually that far from the end really. Okay don't highlight this steel, beat the game first.

You, Can fuck RIGHT off.
The Gui was fantastic, there is no way you could do that in a first person game. Becuase it would look like Every other first person shooter.... or Doom3. Speaking of which, i did like how when the lights went out it was pitch black. I would've liked more instances of pitchblackness. You know not the entire game, But afew more times would've been fun.

I only used the buzzsaw gun's secondary fire, Simply because i got WAY too much ammo for it and never used it the buzzsaw. The primary fire left me abit too open and was strange to guage.

I did notice that it seemed to give more ammo for guns I had in my inventory, but it also seemed like it'd give me shit like flamethrower and line gun ammo when I never used those guns.

The pulse rifle is pretty weak at first, but after a few upgrades it gets a lot better. I agree that the ammo capacity alone makes it pretty boss. And the secondary fire is awesome. I swear it's more powerful in that mode, because it tears shit up pretty easily. There is nothing better than getting yourself surrounded and then going all LAST STARFIGHTER on everyone in the entire room. I liked the impact gun, too, since it can one-shot most enemies that would otherwise be annoying to fight.

i get bored and google things and apparently every gamefaqs writer in the world has a FAQ Q: DID YOU KNOW IT SPELLS A: YES JESUS STOP EMAILING ME THIS.

also yeah you guys using the pulse rifle I have concluded you are balls. first of all the alt fire is completely useless seeing as how you can't aim it in a game devoted to severing limbs and if an enemy is below or above you it's useless. then WHOA AMMO but who cares? if I'm not going to be chopping up an arm with my cutter, my other guns better have better range, like the line gun, kill a dude no matter where it hits, the contact beam, or push them back and buy me some time, the force gun. I don't need lots of ammo that is weak when I have much better options available.

But the point is when you upgrade it, it's NOT weak and kills faster than pretty much every other gun in the game. Also it's 'instant hit' so enemies can't dodge it like they can with the big, heavy guns.

By that Logic, When you upgrade the other guns they aren't weak either.
Fully upgraded force gun shoots grenades that kill a bunch of monsters with 1 round.
Fully upgraded assault rifle requires you to pump rounds into them until they drop.
Hell, Not so upgraded charge cannon will kill most things in 1 shot.

Besides its just a different play style. I spent way too much time in the game beating enemies to death and stomping on them, Why? Cause i thought it was rather gory and epic. Other people would use the stasis module to freeze certain enemies to give them an advantage, Some people probably loved the flame thrower.

The flamethrower just seemed to be far far too weak to me, even upgraded. And it doesn't 'stop' enemies the same way being shot normally does :(

Alright, so I'm at the Hydroponics Control room and I've killed every poison pod (including the one in this room), but I'm still being redirected back to that room even though I killed the creature already.

Nice little fatal glitch, I already saved after this (since it wasn't the last poison pod I killed and the sub-objective complete thing still came up) and now I have to restart the game.

Fuck da world.
