Chainer I'm past that but where did you get the armour? I only got the YoYo in that room.

I think that much was obvious. They even name him when you check out the clothing on his bed.

when i first rented earthbound years ago, the furthest save file had all the characters named stuff like BUTT and PUSSY, ever since then I've always named my characters in RPGs names like that

this game rocks

with Mr Generator I had Duster use the defense down thing every turn until the generator ran out of batteries, then I comboed with every character. didn't have the rubber armor or w/e either (you can buy this from the vending machine in the room below, the one with the hot spring)

also maybe me saying this is useless, but you guys should try to be more descriptive with what you put in your spoiler tags! name the chapter at least.

edit: I mean put the chapter outside the spoiler tags so we know what we can read

man, i wish i had bought the lightning-resistant equipment. maybe then i wouldn't have used all my good items in a single battle. :< but then again, hoarding items doesn't do much good.

Evil Bob, do you mean have Lucas heal with PK Lifeup or with items? i never use Lucas to heal with PSI during battles. he doesn't have as much PP as Kumatora, so i make sure i always have him using PK Love (or Shield omega or something like that).
Boney is my main healer. Boney's actually just the item master in general because he's super fast. Duster's thief skills are awesome, but when i'm not using those, i have him either kick or use items. having items arranged properly between characters is reaaally important in Mother 3, which is kinda cool.

healing with PSI.  I got lifeup beta pretty early and he has enough pp to last through every fight I've been in so far.  Also Kumatora's PSI attacks are more efficient pp-wise.

Man, the Jealous Bass was HARD, I had to grind like 5 levels and use bombs to beat him.

Felt awesome when I finally did though.

Hooray, I beat the game. Wow, the game was longer then I took it for, it took me 20 hours to beat. O_O

My view on the game:

This game was brilliant from beginning to end, some interesting plot twists, hilarious enemies, from  villians to monsters, especially our favorite enemy, Ultimate Chimera, I almost shat myself when I seen him with some VERY close encounters. A lot of the bosses were pretty tough

Gameplay wise was great! Didn't have to do normal slow pace walking but instead you could run which was great, not that I didn't mind the slow paced walking old school style.

The battles were probably one of my favorites because of the music beat combo system they added which made battles 10x more fun then the battles in Mother 2, that was a plus for sure. And some of the bosses as I mentioned before required some interesting strategies (I was level 65 at the end of the game BTW)

The music was amazing, especially from a GBA game, which is impressive all around, I was glad they added some of the Mother 1 and 2 soundtracks in the game which was a big plus. I really liked some of the battle music in the game too.

The story was great, I laughed as so many things, I felt sad at others, and I certainly took some shock moments with some of the stuff they added like taking a dip in a sewage lake... :X

All in all, special thanks to the translators who took a lot of time to translate this game... (3 times or so too.) it was worth it in the end, and to those who haven't played this yet, GET THE FUCKING TRANSLATION AND GET STARTED ON THIS, CAUSE YOU'RE MISSING OUT DAMMIT!

There were a few stuff that were pissing me off, but it was very VERY minor stuff so I let it pass.

All in all, I give this game a 5 Jaymonius thumbs up out of 5. :D Hope we get to see another Mother game in another 20-30 years or so. :P

i'm pretty sure jman00 was just joking xD
he was just saying how it took 13 years for this one to get to us, so it'll probably take 20-30 for another one :P but yeah, obviously, there won't be another MOTHER game.
semper games.

i am disappointed steel i thought you were a sikh/indian/brown person this shall not do.

for everyone who has trouble with the music, listen to the percussion in the background.  when you hear a "boom" count to four then roll back to one.  if you hear the same "boom" when you reach one congratulations you learned what a tempo is.  when the screen says "so and so attacks" press the button as soon as you hear the first boom and then again every time you count a number.  soon you'll learn how to do it naturally with no counting at all!!  you'll also notice there's a little "jingle" playing while comboing and the jingle keeps the beat with the music and is easier to follow

i usually get 8-12 hit combos average with 20 being my current max.  after the third or fourth hit you don't much damage but it helps against enemies with high defense and bosses.

p.s. if you're playing on an emulator then you have to modify the frequency of the sound playback and change the frameskip to 0 or else you'll get latency WHICH IS BAD

i know what a tempo is dude but so far the game hasn't explained the tempo thing and I thought (correctly) that I accidentally stumbled on it.

It will be explained in Chapter 2. It will also provide a means to practice it.

Oh.  I thought you were musically challenged.

i still like it, but i'm enjoying it less as it goes on. the gamplay is getting in the way, and there's less emotion to back up the wackiness.

the fact that jamicus found a game he likes is awe inspiring enough

edit: just like there's no space in StarTropics but everyone puts it in there.

This game is pretty much amazing. I still can't get the combos going (I have no rhythm), but did a little grinding to make up for it. At chapter 5 right now, although so far chapters 1 and 2 where my favorite.
