Star Wars: The Clone Wars
So the new Star Wars series begun airing on Cartoon Network and so far three episodes are out!
The series takes place between Episode 2 and 3 and shows the ongoing Clone Wars between The Republic and the Seperatists. The show isn't based on the cartoon version but draws inspiration from it (mainly the art). Some episodes focus on famous characters while others will focus on less famous ones such as Kit Fisto, Plo Koon and even clones.

Each episode is around 22 minutes and are mostly independent from each other but there is a main story (the clone wars) that ties them together, sort of. The premiere was the largest most-watched ever on CN.

So far three episodes are out. I'll copy & paste the summary of each episode from wikipedia:

I personally liked the three episodes so far. I haven't seen the Clone Wars film yet so I can't comment if this is better or not but it's on the same level (although more realistic) as the cartoon but longer. The only thing that bugged me is the "news-ish" intro of each episode and that the Battle Droids are too human and have independent thinking - but I get it, it's for the kids so they can laugh. However, some episodes (especially ep3) contain some cruel deaths, so it's still a serious feeling overall.

Thumbs up from me at least!

Whoa, what. Is this out already? I had no idea this was airing, shit, must download :((((

The movie was terrible, but I hope to god that this isn't as woeful. Seeming as George Lucas' gangrenous finger has touched it, though, s'pose I can't accept much.

Just watched the 4th chapter and I must admit that I really like the series. It's entertaining, animation works well for a tv-series and the story is pretty good. The last three chapters have been about the same thing (Grievous ship) and I think they just brought a closure to that particular story.

Next chapter will be about a bunch of clones guarding a base on a remote planet in the outer rims - by the looks of the preview there will be some new strange droids that attacks them for unknown reasons.

Even if you're not a Star Wars fan, check this out because it's by far one of the better "cartoon shows" out there at the moment.

As a Star Wars fanboy, this sorta interests me... But how 'kiddy' is it, asuch? I don't want to feel like Lucas just did this to get another generation of children interested in Star Wars and forget about everyone who actually likes Star Wars.

While there are some kiddy stuff (mainly the battle droids being all stupid), the series is fairly serious and dark. The first episodes have a bunch of clones getting killed in gruesome ways... such as droids breaking the windows of their escape pods so they get sucked out in space, screaming before they suddenly die - I personally didn't find that particular scene very kid-friendly at all.

Like I said, it's on the same level as the cartoon version in my opinion. If you liked that, you'll like this.

The last chapter is probably the best so far, the second being the weakest.

That's totally kid friendly. I watched Friday the 13th when it came on VHS!
There's also a new toy line, for those Star Wars collectors among you.
Also, if you're a fan of Star Wars, look forward to the new Star Trek movie. Another pile of vomit from J.J. Abrams. He was quoted saying something along the lines of "I was always more of a Star Wars guy. My smart friends liked Star Trek. So I wanted to make a movie that draws people in like Star Wars did."
yay!

Gotta wait for this on DVD. Not sure if I can take the mental stress of waiting for Clone Wars to come on every week. I already have Heroes, How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory to worry about.

Ha, sounds like I should check it out then, Liman.
Although I never saw the cartoon series, to be honest. Well, not large portions.

The new episode came on yesterday, it focuses mainly on a group of clonetroopers. I really like this direction, veering away from the main heroes of the films and getting into the smaller battles. Asohka kind of gets on my nerves because she seems really forced, but other than that, it's really looking to be a good series.

Yeah, the latest episode was really good. I remember liking the Clonetrooper episode the most in the cartoon version as well. Nice to see darker and more serious droids too.

It's shaping up really well.

I've seen a couple of these, they aren't to bad! At the very least good action, but the battle droids are terrible and annoying!

Also, the guy who does the voice for Anakin is friends with several of my friends. I actually met him once, cool guy.

Ah. Well that's an odd coincidence, and a good one I guess. My DVR is doing this thing where it's recording a mysterious "Unavailable" program that I can't stop recording and also it doesn't even go anywhere.

I was about to go into a rage, gotta have my Star Wars...

So basically I just noticed this topic, and thought some of you guys might want to see what I acquired the other day.

Not sure if this is a necropost or anything, it's still on the first page.

Sorta going off-topic a little.. I remember reading somewhere they are planning on releasing a live action starwars show in late 2009-2010 which will apparantly be based around the same time as this show as well as include a few lesser unknown characters also which I think will be great... Anyone else heard this yet?

Massy you 'aint be lying. Well, the live action show wont be sent during the clone wars, much after inf act, during the Force Unleashed era between trilogies. The main issue among fans is that they obviously want to see the live action show, which this stupid show is taking away from.

@Crim: I don't know what you've read, but the Live Television show is already under works, and is not postponed because of the animated Clone Wars. In fact, they have already begun getting writers as of 2007 and the scripts are being written as well. They only decided to write everything first before actually putting it together.

So yeah, the animated series doesn't hold up the other one. Lucas simply decided to start with that first and so far it's been well recieved.

Both me and my girlfriend are starwar fans, And this pissed both of us off badly. They screwed up with most ship designs already, They screwed up the story line, Why does anakin have an apprentice when he was never granted the rank of jedi master? ever? They fucked up big time and I want to destroy them and there gay assed named ranch.
