The red highlights were confirmed to be toggleable. I think there was a spot on PlayStation Qore about this game. I've been following it for awhile now. Looks incredible.
Like, getting through a vent in the roof--well jump on this shelf unit, grab the ventshaft, jump to the tiny ventilation exhaust ledge, then on top the ventshaft, up up up
So cool.

This game again eh? For some reason I wasn't too impressed when I saw this a while but it's starting to look better already. Although, it looks kind of confusing when you are just running non-stop and it would probably take many tries to get through the stage that fast.

Btw, I am making a prince of persia-ish game in XP and my friends and I were free running before it was cool.  :fogethuh:

Yeah I don't get why highlighting interactive objects is bad? If I'm being chased in some incredibly tense gameplay section, I'd rather not have to spend PRECIOUS SECONDS (i'm not exaggerating) trying to find the pipe I'm supposed to grab or whatever. I guess if you're really worried about immersion, a toggle option couldn't hurt, but it never bothered me! It's like.. in Assassin's Creed, I was just as happy to have the game more or less guide me when I'm climbing and jumping. Most of that shit is automatic as long as you're holding down the right button. When you're making an ESCAPE or whatever, it's one thing you don't have to be so concerned about.

That's not a great example but the point is I'm not bothered by highlighted objects.

That was a mean good plug Arcan, just sneaking that game thing in there.

Anyway, I think this looks like a pretty good game and I'll probably rent it out (cause I have no current gen system) and have a play. Looks like it'll be hella fun, especially considering last time I went free running I fucked up a vault and face planted. It'll be nice to do it in-game and not face plant.

if you switched to the melee weapon (right foot? idk) and used it at the same time as the mighty foot (the one you can use with any weapon)

duke basically floated

It happens in all the versions.  I'm sure they were aware of it but they left it in as an easter egg.  Duke basically drop kicks the enemy without falling down himself because he's that badass.

I don't have the image on me at the moment but the Japanese cover art of Mirror's Edge was changed to reflect their "differences in taste."  The main character of this game is a lanky athletic asian girl with a boy-like physique (something you'd expect from an acrobat because you know BIG TITS AND HUGE ASS get in the way of catwalking and shimmying over poles) but the Japanese cover airbrushed her from an A cup to a C cup and gave her a round triangle anime face instead of her normal shaped HUMAN SKULL.

this is probably the first game in the world where the female lead character looks like a NORMAL human and the japanese go and fuck it up.  as soon as i scour my harddrive for the comparison shot i'll post it.

I remember Duke Nukem. He was a spaceman and it played like megaman/mario with absolutely terrible graphics. Then they changed him.

The sidescrolling Duke games were awesome and Duke 3D was kind of a "tongue-in-cheek" spoof on the current trend of EDGY action games with big muscled heroes, half naked womenz, and weird monsters.  Duke was basically a combination of everything shitty about pop culture but back then 3D Realms knew how to make a great game so you didn't pay attention to the fact that he was ripping off bruce campbell.

Here's the article I read about it on Kotaku. It seems it's a fan design, tho I definitely agree with you, it's a little ridiculous.

I'm glad it is a fan design.  If that was going to be the official artwork I would probably rage and then fall asleep because getting worked up over video games is stupid.

I did actually write an email to DICE about how that silenced SMG has a fucking MUZZLE FLASH.  Awaiting reply.

"There is always a huge complain from Asian gamers whenever Western developers design Asian female characters..." As Torokun continues, this is mainly because many Westerners' definition of what is considered as "Asian" beauty is very different from what Asians consider beautiful."

Hmmm so westerners like the slender delicate features of Asians while REAL Asians like the big eyes big tits anime stuff?

Who's living in fantasy land, Japan?

I can't comment on the truth of what asians might typically prefer in terms of women. But I do think that I found the girl in the second image more attractive (I should mention I'm caucasian). Its probably more likely that asians would go for either, where as 'westerners' would probably lean towards the second one. Or maybe I represent the minority and I'm completely wrong. >.>

I didn't notice there was a second image until I found myself looking at the second image... if that makes sense.
Actually, I don't find either attractive. The original is too butch and the eye tattoo or whatever bugged me from the outset.
The second one looked too anime, and unrealistic. Chubby cheeks, big breasts, and no annoying eye tattoo? How is she supposed to be badass at wall climbing?

The second pic looks more anime-like and that is why I prefer it. However, in the top pic she looks much tougher and that is probably what I would prefer in the game. Wait, why does this matter anyway? It's not like you see her face in the game.

all it proves arcan, vanit, and the dude is that you guys like unrealistic portrayals of women in vidya and your real tastes in life probably reflect that but no real women looks like the vidya so you spend your life searching for the perfection you'll never have.

it must be lonely
