I got this a few days ago and I loved it. Yeah, it's pretty predictable at parts, but the style, atmosphere, and overall execution had me. God, the score especially, was fantastic.

Maybe because the depiction of Sweden in a horror film may not be entirely accurate?

Nah it was accurate. Though to be honest I didn't see anything in there that would make me want to kill myself, it seemed lovely and nice and nostalgic. All the people were friendly! Except the ones that killed other people perhaps.

Ever since "Farväl Falkenberg" appeared, I have dredged to see Swedish movies since they make me wanna
move away from here. I might pick this one up, since I haven't seen a vampire flick since Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Speaking of dracula.. has anybody seen Batman Dracula? Is Batman really in it?!

Yeah, you're probably right. I should watch the movie, but from the trailer it seems pretty authentic (at least as far as those housing complexes go). There's rarely that much snow or cold though (they had to film it in Luleå, 600 miles north of Stockholm). And most middle-class families today have their own houses (except in cities).

I've only just discovered this movie from this thread, so I recently got hold of the movie and I must say I loved it. I've read the above comments and too be honest, the kid sleeping in his underwear didnt feel odd at all although the vagina scene was horrid. My favourite part has to be when Eli decides to walk into the apartment without being invited in first, Its the first time I have seen this in any vamp movie or show so it was interesting to see something new like this.

wow that's terrible. also I haven't read the book yet.

I'M TRAPPED is easily the worst translation there.

This is pretty terrible. Swedish and English are both Germanic languages, so I don't see how this is possible to fuck up. I mean, some of those lines could be translated word for word and still be grammatically correct (and not lose any meanings or undertones). Did they hire a college student studying Swedish? Were they afraid of being sued by the original translator, so they made a bad translation by purpose?

But for those who have already purchased Let The Right One in, it’s not all good news: Magnet is not offering exchanges. In other words, those stuck with the crappy version will have to buy it twice.
