Name me one good film from India. No, Lagaan is not one of them.

lagaan kicks ass, its pretty funny you dont know about the fucking Apu Trilogy considering you just made a topic about WHAT ARE FILM ESSENTIALS and if you had googled this you would know, and water has gotten some pretty good reviews overall.

This mornin just finished rewatching Live and Let Die for the godknowshowmany-th time. First time I've seen it in two(?) years. And just wow, Bond is so plain unlikable. Like how he tricks the women into sex and shit, and where he waited until after fucking the double agent before pointing his gun and threatening her. It's really kinda grotesque. Also how Kananga goes from being absolutely furious in one scene to pleasent gentleman the next is totally bizarre.
It's probably one of the better bond films (Barron Samedei for example is such a mysterious character, and Tee-hee plays the perfect henchman role) but man it's got some really shit in it, like really shit.

I stayed  up all night watching movies.

I caught 90% of some Wesley Snipes flick, The Art of War, where they spend the last 10 minutes making obscure Sun Tzu references leading up to a cliche ending. It was pretty bad, but it's the first action movie I've watched in awhile so that was swell.

Then I finally saw 12 Angry Men with Fonda and it was really good. Probably my favorite movie I've seen of late which is nice :] :]

Followed this up with a 1930s Les Mis which was alright but I'm a sucker for the musical and this skipped some of the better parts.

Last movies I saw were:

Strange Wilderness- Avoid at all costs. This movies humor is the kind that is non existant...It is just bad and I don;t really wanna go into detail because just thinking of it makes me a sad boy.

Shaun of the Dead- I think it is the 8th time I saw this movie. Great flick that everyone should see.

And I will finish off with the movie I just finished 40 minujtes ago...
Tropic Thunder- Pretty funny film that has some good action and balances it with comedy that makes for a surprsingly good ben stiller movie. (Its been awhile) Robert Downy jr is nonstop hilarious with is african american impression that plays on some pretty standard black steriotypes. Check this one out.

Just finished watching Aliens vs Preditor 2, every review has been a bad one with this movie but I thought it was worth a watch although the hybrid alien with the dreadlocks just made me laugh... what did they do to the poor alien awww.

Wasnt scary or tense, not even a little bit which was a shame.

Ok, I lied, I will watch the Apu trilogy and Water. Unfortunately I am still working through the film essentials list!

I really didn't dig Lagaan so much though, I understand how people say the cricket match is the climax and best part of the story, but I am not one for long ass sports matches and fights in movies! Pretty much all I got from that film was the 1 hour cricketz.

To be honest, I actually enjoyed Zinda despite being an Oldboy rip off.

The Love Guru - Some bits made me laugh e.g. Jessica Alba and Mike Myers dancing and singing in an old school indian movie. Were some silly childish bits in it also though.

EDIT*** so I dont double post.

Role Model - Great movie, I was smiling the whole way through..

Across the Universe. It was like the Beatles were put into a grape-press and their essence was squeezed out and aged in the minds of a generation, and then painted onto a film reel.

Oh, and it had Eddie Izzard. Singing. Surrounded by the Blue Meanies.
If no one went off on tangents, we'd keep going in circles.

I prefer the original tbh. 2 is by no means bad, it's pretty fantastic too. it's a shame 3 blows so much. :(

i think i prefer the first one just because it has so many more memorable scenes.
