Today my brother and I were in his car going to pick up some chicken, and he played this Nickelback song:


And I had this weird nagging thought that I'd heard this somewhere bef-OH YEAH:


It's the same song! Not exactly of course, but when I start singing "How You Remind Me" by accident while listening to a song from, what, two albums later? There's a problem. Their song "Someday" is noticeably similar to "How You Remind Me" as well. What the hell is this?

Do any other bands do this shit so blatantly? I mean recycling riffs or whathaveyou on a minor scale isn't so bad, but this is just embarrassing.

the fan base is content with the same shit masked other another name and slightly tweaked lyrics. They're horrible musicians and its a slap in the face to anyone that actually holds music to a higher standard, but they're making ridiculous dough off of it. so what are you going to do other than hate their shit with a passion and laugh at it.

I don't understand how they hold themselves in high regard like that though. They MUST realize they're recycling their own shit since they're doing it so blatantly, but I guess if idiots are going to see them play and buy they're terrible albums then they must think that makes them great or something...

Everytime I hear that excuse I want to tell the person using it that they are shallow pieces of shit. My brother uses it all the time and its just an excuse for "I want to listen to music that doesn't require me to think at all and I can go braindead to it and just nod for about 4 minutes".

I tried to get him into immortal technique yesterday and he admitted that he was really good but and I quote, "yeah man they're good if you're lookin for somethin to uh..."

Me: "make you think?"

My friend's defense for them whenever I say they're awful and shallow and shit is: "They're not awful... They're alright..."
But then I start yelling at him because you shouldn't REALLY give a crap about "alright" bands or else all music is going to sound like ^^THAT^^ (pointing at Nickelback videos) shit.
