yeah i know things have changed a lot and i am not even really attached to the idea of defending the class since i'm sure it's overpowered as fuck now or whatever so it's not like i am being like well when *i* played because i don't actually think it's the same anymore but

part of me still yearns to discuss wow shit.............

HARP's what all the cool kids call that old adreneline rush prep build, the H being hemo I think. That build was retarded and broken but I'd so much rather fight one of them than a 20/0/41 rogue in their current state :-(

maybe it's because i am rocking 10 reslilience but i don't really see how we are that overpowered, i'm not rocking everyone and I'm a pretty mediocre to moderate pvper.

is this really any indication of anything, though?  you're playing a bad 2v2 makeup and complaining that a better one is easier to win at?  you're handicapping yourself, man, what do you expect?  i don't see how it's bad that rogue/mage is better in 2v2 than mage/pally.  in an ideal game all combos would be equal but you know some combos are better than others in arena, plain and simple.

also note that if he burns through all his cooldowns, prep included, he is very vulnerable for 3-5 minutes.  that can be a long time in pvp!  i mean not in world pvp where unless you are in some BIG ONGOING SKIRMISH all of your cooldowns will be up for every single fight because you only find one person every 10-15 minutes, and in that scenario i admit rogues were ridiculously good even before they got a huge buff to sub, but in battlegrounds, blowing them all beating a hunter or something will just probably mean you'll die from a lack of any tricks to do when you get attacked by 2 people immediately afterwards.  that's a lot of cooldowns for a 2v2 arena though with prep so i understand how it seems like you just have about 8 billion things to fall back on and it was almost impossible to lose, since that's how i always felt playing 2v2 under like 2k or so with that spec.  it's less good after that though when blowing a ton doesnt really kill anyone and if you didnt have all of them you would just feel incredibly fragile and like you would get rocked in about thirty seconds without all those ACES up your sleeve.

yeah its not the best 2v2 setup BUT i still stand by the fact it was so much easier to play as a rogue than as a paladin in all aspects of PVP.

like, compare the viability of classes in setups, mages in 2v2 are limited to mage/rogue if they want to REALLY succeed. mage/priest works too i guess.

look at rogues, they can rock any of these and get to 2k+ no problem (assuming two good players):

rogue/druid
rogue/rogue
rogue/mage
rogue/lock
rogue/disc priest
rogue/shadow priest
rogue/ret paladin

i know it's not BEST EXAMPLE but the fact is rogues are pretty much kings of pvp right now, along with druids, and can fit in to a lot of setups in arena, whereas a lot of classes struggle. basically what i'm saying is, right now, they're inherently better than other classes. maybe 5v5 being the exception.

as for the COOLDOWN BLOWING, yeah if a rogue blows all his cooldowns he's NO GOOD but its the same for any other class. as a paladin if BUBBLE ON COOLDOWN i'll likely die, mage, ICE BLOCK GONE, fight becomes way harder, priest's Psychic Scream on CD = melee zerg on them, etc. every class is helpless at some point, it just takes rogues 2 full sets of cooldowns before they're vulnerable!

i understand rogues are more cooldown dependent but they have SO MANY and good rogues, right now, don't need many at all to kill a decent player. they've just got TOO much.

i understand you DEFENDING your old class. i guess the only way you can be convinced is PLAY AGAIN, as a 70 sub rogue in decent gear.

esp i'm not even really defending it; i already said earlier i'm convinced you're right and it's probably way out of balance, but mostly i was just felt a vague compulsion to talk about wow shit and now it is more or less gone sooooo yeah.  i still think my point earlier about this inevitably happening with all classes at some point stands, though.  it's hard to really get worked up about it so much as wonder when it is your class' turn to be completely imbalanced for a while (answer: as soon as you stop playing it).

this is true. warlocks had it a while back and were just totally ridiculous. rogues (and druids) have it now. i'm just wondering what's next! i hope it just ends up a hell of a lot more balanced in general, but i sincerely doubt that, instead of giving each class a set overhaul blizz seem to just ADD RANDOM SHIT then go "oops sorry lol thats a bit too strong we'll give *x class* somethin to counter it". ;-/

That's because Blizzard's WoW team is a POS when it comes to balancing, but part of it comes from the MMO atmosphere imo. They want people to keep paying and that is the core design philosophy in general: do whatever it takes to get people to pay, so they try to keep classes overpowered and cycle them. (pretty much every class has had a time where they were imbalanced to shit).

It's a whole different atmosphere from something like Diablo 2 (make everything overpowered) or StarCraft (balance in the name of competition) in that both of those are BUY ONCE and enjoy, but by keeping each class slightly overpowered in some way and cycling which ones are meta, people are more likely to keep playing (heh, my class RULES.) or trying other classes (= more play time = more $).

You will probably never ever see World of Warcraft actually balanced, until it starts to die (by which I mean hits normal MMO population ~1-2 million), and they'll do it as a last ditch effort to get people to come back.
