No, that's why YOU'VE been playing it over other MMOs.
Yeah but he has a pretty good point Mark, at least I think he does. Even if he didn't explicitly say it, WoW was built as a PvE game in mind, everything truly PvP oriented that wasn't World PvP was completely tacked on at a later date. It's pretty obvious that PvE has always been the main focus there. And you can't really say the whole "it just didn't go live in time" excuse that I've seen a lot of hardcore WoW PvPers say. No, because Blizzard has the mentality of never releasing anything until they are happy with it, so if they wanted PvP to go live, they very much so would of held back WoW's release date to add it.
WoW is always going to be balanced around PvE, this is pretty much a fact and undeniable. The only thing I could see them doing is ripping off yet another thing from Guild Wars (wow that totally makes 3 things now if they did this, all pretty big things toooo....not that I really care, people rip shit off each other all the time) and making the Tournament Realm have its own skills. ie: MAYBE TAUNT DOES SOMETHING NOW or MORTAL STRIKE DOES HELLA LESS SHIT but only on the Tournament Realm, or taking that a bit further and making skills do completely different shit in BGs/Arena only.
WoW isn't even a good e-sport, not just because of how imbalanced to shit it is (which can lead to boredom from spectators), but because of how one sided the gameplay is in PvP. Every good frost mage is going to play
the exact same, which even adds more to the boredom of the spectators (not good in an e-sport). Every good sub Rogue is going to play
the exact same. Add to this they chose a less competitive format (3v3, instead of 5v5) and you got a recipe for disaster. Maybe not immediately, but it'll go downhill barring any MIRACLE CHANGES, trust me.
It really saddens me that ANet chose to like, not make Guild Wars an e-sport in-so-far-as entering it into professional e-sport places, simply because they wanted complete control over their own game and wanted to be the sole hoster of tournaments for it or whatever. That stance has seemingly changed now, so maybe for GW2!! I say it saddens me, because watching an 8v8 GvG is almost like a sense of wonder. It's down now, but there was like a 3 hour show on TV for the second world tournament in GW and got mad views. Add in the fact the game is balanced around PvP, is way way wayyyyy more balanced, and every class can play in many many ways, and you got a successful recipe for an e-sport. Look at Quake, or CS1.6, etc.
