So this thread proposes you to question yourself how far would you go in a relationship in which each part have different set of beliefs or moral priorities.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE SUPPOSE THIS IS A SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP FOUNDED MOSTLY BY LOVE THAN LUST.

The topic is free to pick any particularities, I'll just write here some examples.

If you're a registered democrat, would you go out with a registered republican in search of a real relationship?

If you're an atheist, would you go out with someone with religious beliefs?
Or maybe you'd go with a buddhist, but not with a christian? Or similar variations.

If you're pro-choice, would you go in a serious date with a pro-life person?

You believe in capitalism, the other is a commie. Would you proceed?

There are many other examples. I just wrote 4.
The point here is how far would you go, or is love truly blind to all these things.

I could answer all of these, since they basically all are applicable to myself. However, I will answer this one. In short, yes I would date someone with religous beliefs. To be more elaborate, the girl I choose to date must accept what I believe, and not try to force feed the tenets and dogma of her religion down my throat. If she can accept that my beliefs are different than hers(a lot of Christians or other adherents to a religion may not, at least not around here), then I can do the same and the relationship is set.

Speaking from personal experience, being in a relationship with a person that is very similar to you can be a very bad thing.

just can't wrap my head around a left wing agnostic liking such blatantly conservative entertainment

let's do some word association. just tell me what comes to mind when you read the following words:
-six-pack
-forest
-elmer fudd
-nascent

as long as they stay away from wild extremes im pretty open. even then it's case-by-case, so i guess the only WOULD NEVER:: would be someone who i view as really fucking dumb or malicious. maybe. lol im not good at this stuff @_@_@_@

I am doing all of these things right now. Except I'm the commie. But I have had bad experiences with girlfriends who were:

1. Conservative Muslim

2. Racist

3. Believed movies/music/books were only as good as the amount of box office/playtime/sales they get because people determine how good something is

Honestly, as long as the person isn't extreme (like a member of the "God Hates Fags" church) I would not mind their beliefs. I'm a very open-minded dude and as long as they aren't just complete idiots (like strangeluv's number 3) I'd be okay with whatever they think.
Here, I'll answer yours too.

Since I am a registered republican (how did that happen??) but subscribe to very democratic views, I'd be okay with that. PS I changed the question to be more applicable to me. I'd also attempt a serious relationship with a registered republican. Honestly political views do not matter

religion doesn't matter unless they're trying to convert me to their beliefs or they have really messed up beliefs (sacrifice manny baby to serpent god Xthiliastrxma)

No. Too many things would go wrong and honestly a lot of pro-life people I've met have a lot of other personality flaws and aren't that great people to be around oh well!!

If they were just casually "well it would be better this way" then I'd be fine with it. If they were all hardcore going to rallies and yelling at me for supporting capitalistic pigs or whatever then wow, no thanks. Honestly though, I'm a bit of a commie myself (according to that political compass I was a lotta bit a commie!!)
don't mind me, just postin' after a few brewskies

An uncle of me is catolic, while her wife is 100% atheist. They love each other and they make a very happy couple. They agreed that, when raising their children, he (my uncle) would raise them under catholic doctrines and if they decided something else, it'd be their choice.

I think if people really love each other, religion or beliefs in general don't matter at all.

I like jew stuff and my girlfriend is semi-Christian but I have begun to corrupt her. I wouldn't go out with a hardcore racist, conservative christian, satanist, conservative muslim either, I mean there are alot of girls in the world and I'd rather not go through that stuff!

Not a democrat, but I don't think I could spend a whole lot of time in a relationship with a republican without getting into mean arguments.

Sure, within limits. My wife is a buddhist and that's fine with me, but I don't think I would do too well in a relationship with a mormom or a born-again fundamentalist christian. Your average mass/temple-dodging catholic or jew is fine with me too because they tend to be pretty normal people

Sure, I'd go on a serious date, but I wouldn't put my dick in her on any kind of regular basis.

My wife is a pretty much a liberal capitalist, and I'm more-or-less a flexible Maoist. We don't find too much common ground on a lot of political issues, but luckily she's not as interested in them like I am so we don't really talk about it much.

Maoist

not trying to derail here but holy shit I just read a biography on Mao and this dude was so full of shit it was unbelievable. not talking about his ideology or anything (some of which is truly brilliant) but personally the guy was nothing but a monster who had a pretty disgusting contempt for the poor.

I have and would date anyone of any creed or whatever as long as she wasn't a crazy fanatic or some shit. Maybe not MARRY, but I'd certainly date someone who believed in something a little different than me. Life is too fucking short.

i don't know if i could go out with someone that could be scared by me, so obviously they'd need to be someone that shared my religious beliefs at least a bit!

I dont really think any of this matters to me as long as the person is tolerant

I can deal with people who have different viewpoints on things but if they're going to preach to me or set down rules and shit then no way. I dont really change the way I do things for anyone. More often than not this is a block to me getting laid but honestly I dont think it would be an enjoyable experience getting to that point and having to deal with them so I just dont and wait for something better to come along. I've known some girls I'd really have liked to have nailed the shit out of but I couldnt stand being around them for 5 minutes so it was just never an issue for me.

however

if this shit was on a dare... I'd do pretty much anything haha. you only live once.

My maternal grandparents are a christian and a jew.

As for me, I think I'm pretty fucked. I'm an atheist and want my children to grow without religion, just moral education. I can't respect religion, mostly catholic, muslim and jew.

Vegetarians distress me. I dont get it and whole "somebody protect the animals thing is stupid".

And as for politics, I'm not so heavy on it. Just would kind of like people that y'know, would vote for Obama rather than Palin.
