I haven't seen a thread on it here, but I saw another person talk about it;  As Starcraft isn't as popular in the states as much, I am positive that it will be when its released.

Quote from: Starcraft2.com
StarCraft II continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft. Legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types will do battle across the galaxy, as each faction struggles for survival.

Featuring a unique single-player campaign that picks up where StarCraft: Brood War left off, StarCraft II will present a cast of new heroes and familiar faces in an edgy sci-fi story filled with adventure and intrigue. In addition, Blizzard will again offer unparalleled online play through Battle.net, the company's world-renowned gaming service, with several enhancements and new features to make StarCraft II the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game.
But of course, blizzard is not as good as other gaming companies when it comes to giving an ETA on their products.  Rest assured, that when they do release, they make up for it;  World of Wacraft being one of their most profitable games, it was done right the first time.

What about battle.net?  Is it going to be the same?  Blizzard sheds light, that we will like what they deliver.

Will Battle.net be overhauled? Will there be new features?

There will be some exciting new changes and features to Battle.net that will help us ensure that StarCraft II will be the ultimate competitive online real-time strategy game. Some of the areas we’re looking into include features that support online tournaments, eSports, and enhanced communication between players. We’re not quite ready to go into further detail about Battle.net at this time, but we look forward to doing so in the future.

I have always been a big fan of blizzard games, and I await SC2s' release.  For more information, click here.

I love StarCraft, and I can't wait for this and Diablo 3 :(

Think it'd be cool if you could add some more info/screens directly to the OP though!

Is there a Diablo 3 thread? I'm up to date on almost everything that's been released about it and wouldn't mind throwing one together if people would like. I'll make it good!

I'm really pumped to get my hands on the SC2 Editor. I was big into WC3 map making.

I watched the presentation movie some time ago.  It looked OKAY back then but I wasn't that impressed.

If they want my Starcraft, they'll have to pry it from my cold, head hands.

There isn't a thread because there is nothing to talk about. We know absolutely nothing about the game other than what it looks like.

And that they've split the campaign into 3 separate games.

So that was true. That's kinda gay though, do I need to buy all of em if I just wanna play in bnet with some friends or random bnet homos? Or how does it work?

The first game will be a complete game. It will feature the Terran campaign. The second and third games (which will either be featured as expansions or stand-alone games) will feature the Protoss and Zerg campaigns. Yes, you will be able to play on Battle.net (Battle.net 2.0!!) with only the first game.

Essentially instead of having 3 campaigns in one game, you're getting one massive campaign for each of the races. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the second and third games will be priced accordingly.

60$ per game.

No but seriously is the point of this that they can get the game out earlier (They aren't going for the christmas market are they?) or what? Like I'm glad if it gets out sooner because they do this but it feels kinda weird way to go about it.

I really don't give two shits about them campaigns but I'm going to get this for the custom maps and online play.

It will allow them to release the game much earlier, yes, but no they aren't going for a Christmas release they said sometime in 2009 (I suspect Q1). If they didn't release it in parts they would either have to shorten the campaigns or delay the release by god knows how long.

Also Starcraft is pretty huge in the states man!  It's just been . . . so long . . .

StarCraft: Ghost isn't a Blizzard title per se, they just published it. They didn't develop it or anything.

So yea, it's been 2004 since Blizz's last title.

well they released the burning crusade in 2007 but that was only an expansion pack.

I actually really like blizzard's thing with this, when people ask when some new thing is being released they say WHEN IT'S READY YA FUCKIN NERDS so it always comes out with a certain degree of polish. Wow was buggy as shit on release but considering the scale it was still really polished imo

I don't know about you but i'll be going to town with the Map Editor.
A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

Also in three days Wrath of the Lich King.

Those are all World of Warcraft expansions though.   Generally when you make a timeline you leave out expacs.
