FUCK MY LIFE

I've only had my ps3 for like six months and I turned it on and it told me that the system was corrupted and needed a restore, so I go to restore it and it wont work. I kept trying and trying and it restores then goes back to the same screen. I never did anything out of the ordinary with it yesterday and I still have my warranty booklet but not my receipt!

Anyone had similar issues and do you have any tips?

The other day I got the Disc Read Error. Not quite as serious as what you got, but mine no longer accepts or reads any variety of disc.
Where did you leave your receipt? That's pretty necissary.

I read somewhere that the PS3 system is on some flash somewhere and not actually on the HD (as in when you restore it formats the HD then puts the system on it). You can replace the PS3's hard disk drive with a larger one if you want and it will format it (This has been done with SSDs also on Engadget). If you can't send it to somewhere to get repaired on your warranty then you might wanna rob an old laptop hard drive off someone and install it yourself (look at the base of the PS3, that's where it goes).

I have been thinking about upgrading mine for when the PS3 gets a bit bigger on the media front and does that downloadable movies thing in europe.

If all else fails, just give it a wallop. That's the olde english way of fixing things.

probably a bum HDD. You can get a 2.5" drives pretty cheap online and they're really easy to replace

I fixed all my consoles by giving em' a good smack. I've got the touch, cause it works. My Sega still works to this day.

Anyways if your good with words you could probably talk your way into getting the repairs.

A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.
