It's either The Wrestler or Juno 2: Rachel Getting Married. They would never put two indies up there. If not those two, then Doubt.

I'd say Milk, Revolutionary Road and The Dark Knight are most likely going to get in. I think TDK deserves to be up there because of how it raised the bar on those kinds of movies, and if the Academy is feeling to "crowd-please", it would make it in. Benjamin Buttons seems like hit or miss and probably would have to duke it out with Slumdog Millionaire if it is a hit. Slumdog is pretty much a big hit with the critics already.

Doubt is always a possibility, it does look good. But I think it's fine with the possible nominations it might get. PSH seems hot shit in that film.

When does this go on? I tend to stay away from the whole awards thing for movies and music, but I'd really like to see Clint Eastwood in there. His movie comes out in January though, so it might be too late?

No, his movie (Gran Torino, you're talking about, right?) is eligible, once he submits it for nomination consideration before the deadline (late December, I think). It doesn't need a theatrical release before it is submitted (but it helps it).

Hahaha, Gran Torino isn't going anywhere. The film looks unintentionally hilarious. *CLINT EASTWOOD ANGRY GLARE*

Yeah, I'll have to see it. Just because it looks like the Edmond/Crank/Death Sentence/Taken.

It's going to have to compete with Crank 2 and From Paris with Love next year for greatest film ever*.

Edmond ruled.

Anyway, and I don't know how the buzz is for this right now, but there's a movie called "Australia" coming out soon with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge). Idk if that should be considered?

I don't know anything about it except it is about some ranch and looks boring. But if Oprah likes it.....

I really really don't want The Dark Knight to win anything more than some special effects or maybe best supporting actor. If this wins Best Picture I've lost all faith in the academy. I bet Anne Hatheway will win something for Rachel Getting Married because I've heard a million positive reviews on her performance.

I'm not that fussed if TDK gets a nomination, but if it wins I just feel that the Oscars would lose a bit of face from it. I mean, the POPULAR MOVIE has won in the last two years, The Departed and No Country. Obviously No Country could be argued against, but I personally feel TWBB should've won it, but it's not important.

But yeah. At most it should walk away with a Best Picture nomination, but I'd be fine if it didn't make the list.

Juno I - Pregnancy
Juno II - Marriage
Juno III - Paying the Mortgage

Seriously though, the dialogue is similar. It's written in the irritating way Juno was written. Plus LOOK AT THIS INCREDIBLE SIMILARITY:

dude those pictures are nothing alike, im hoping you're being facetious because STUPID INDIE CHICK WITH A QUIRKY PIPE vs ANGRY WASP BITCH IN A DARK FILTER SMOKING CIGARETTE really?

also you've either never seen either of these movies or even their trailers or something because they are nothing alike. juno is a movie that is obnoxiously indie, rachel getting married is an obnoxious indie movie.

I've never talked to you and dunno what's with you, who you are, or why you choose to behave like a little insect and buzz around my posts. Nor do I or have I really cared to know the answers to any of those. But you trail me a lot and that tends to get annoying, so stop. I already have gnats around my neighbourhood irl, I don't need them in the forum as well, especially when all they have to buzz about is something someone already said.

Yeah, Kaufman gets nominated for Screenplay a lot (3 nods, 1 win if I'm correct). It probably won't get anything else, but would probably boost PSH's chances to score a nomination with Doubt (oooh look he brought out not one but TWO cool films this year, let's nom him aka George Clooney 2005).

I'm not that fussed if TDK gets a nomination, but if it wins I just feel that the Oscars would lose a bit of face from it. Well, Juno made the most money out of the 5 nominees last year. I don't know if that classifies it as most popular, though. I'm with No Country more than TWBB though they were both pretty impressive. With NCFOM more because I felt TWBB dragged at parts and felt a little too long, even though it's supposed to be a kind of 'epic' and all.

But then again, award shows  It's never really about the 'best' movie
