I was really very impressed by a jamicus release earlier this year. it was clearly amateurish but it had some weird aura about it I enjoyed.

Couchfiend for me. The Buddy Holly remake alone did it for me. Though I like Lars and Bonehead a lot too. But I'm just into Couch's style more. He's very talented. Like I've actually played some tracks from him for people I know irl and they liked it too.

I can only vote for jamicus or couch (only ones I downloaded and listened to) and I liked Coming Back To Life by Jamie Sime a lot so that's my vote

i probably would have voted for couch anyway, but i remember liking some of scubacoaster/bunnymilk/whatever his name is now quite a lot. and i also like hits like hitlerdog and david schwimmer by drule. the barkley soundtrack was great as well.

but couch seems like the most multi-talented and enthusiastic. his voice is very distinctive, although i suppose that's not a fair criteria. plus i still listen to respite sometimes.

Lars has really had a great year but honorable mentions to Couch, Jamicus, Scubacoaster and most of the others really!

couchfiend i think is gw's most talented and varied instrumentalist, but jamicus is i think by far the best songwriter to ever post on gw. i haven't listened to a song by jamicus that didn't make me think "wow".

I always wanted to make MIDIs like teloch years back so I guess he was responsible for a lot of my motivation. He's still making great stuff

jamicus all the way. his music might sound 'amateurish' but there's a level of authenticity there that other artists just don't have!

God, I feel really egomaniacal for submitting myself.

I vote couch.

EDIT: Where is Rone Rivendale on this list?!

i love couch and jamicus, but i voted jamicus because his music is a fairly good representation of what I'd like to do with my own musical ideas. I pretty much look up to him, musically. He's got a great voice and excellent songwriting skills.

yeah i went with couch.  jamicus is good and SINCERE but the issue i would have with him is that i do not think his acoustic work is particularly good.  the more recent stuff he's done has been pretty impressive, but there is just so much SIMPLY OKAY ACOUSTIC STUFF in relation to the pieces that i thought really shined (the electronic stuff).  also even a bit of the electronic work was kind of not fully developed.  he is not consistent enough atm!!

couch on the other hand, idk, he's more developed i think.  he seems to have a better understanding of MUSIC, and he's definitely better at the production aspects of it, plus he is competent with several instruments i think.  he just seems more skilled/versed in the actual making of the music/playing of the instruments, and i also think he has the best voice on gw, easily.  also i'm not sure i think jamicus is a better songwriter!!  i was really impressed with the creativity/weirdness that i saw in that emfrik release.  it was a lot of odd sounds and instruments, and i thought that in addition to being different and kind of out there, the songwriting and really the tone of it was good, and.........cohesive!!!

It was either between couch and PTizzle for me. But since Couch has released a really cool and original EP this year, I had to give it to him.

I also like Jamicus' album that he released, but felt it wasn't as consistent and Couch's stuff

Here you go man! http://www.sendspace.com/file/49vjsu

Also I really dig Jamicus but my favourite stuff from him wasn't released this year as far as I know so I'm trying to keep it to who I liked the most this year rather than overall.

Couch is a music making machine

Ptizzle is a close second I really really like his GW troubadour contributions but I'd like to hear a solid album from him with some good lyrics next year then he might win but its going to take a lot of work. Not because PT isn't talented or anything, all he's got is a pen and some mad rapz skills and couch has a fucking armada of musical talent.

If he had released Swansaw this wouldn't even be arguable though.
