Mecha Death Fighting game thingy

A multiplayer platform game me and a friend is working on. I'm the programmer and it's coded in C# using XNA.

Here's a trailer of the basic engine. Check it out.

Also, Vanit, you better keep that shit on the D.L. if you don't want a cease and desist from SquareEnix.  They don't take kindly to people who can show them up.

Definitely, because if he does not, then a cease and desist will be a guarantee.

Breath of Fire IV mixed with Suikoden I think? Can't see the vid right now but that screen doesn't really show anything. The sprites don't fit with that robot thing either, they clash too much. The HUD aint bad though.

@Vanit - That looks awesome man seriously. I thought you were going to have 3D battles though with the camera moving around, etc.

@Tau: It was going to be 2D, but with the camera panning around so the current focus would be in the middle of the screen. But I don't think I'm going to do that anymore.

Vanit, why not just take rips of the models in different frames of animation? Take a cap of the bacground too! Make it look 3D, if you can. Going to all that effort to emulate the system mechanics exactly and using less-than-mindbending pixelart wouldn't do it justice, but models might.

I think that would look tacky in addition to defeating the purpose.

^ Exactly. Plus, are you working in a team or no? Would this take at least a year to do?

Good luck on the daunting task. And don't worry about making everything exactly like it was.

A year's worth of time in continuous work, or a year as in we'll see this close to completion this time of the month 2010?

Cheers for making it to the scenery/chara graphics stage of production. I think I've said this before, but I'll be very pleased even if you only make it up to the point where Cloud and co. depart from Midgar.

No idea. All I can do is tell you my milestones: End of the bombing mission, Kalm, and the end of disc 1. No point looking beyond disc 1 at this time.

@Vanit
Like everyone said, the whole FF7 thing is looking great. Though I am not a big fan of FF7 remakes, I am still looking forward to see how you pull FF7 in Rm2k3!

------------------

Also, here's something from my 3rd game (in line)

Some of you might remember some of the designs from the sprites I posted back. It's just some edits and upgrade.
Also, you might recall me having a problem deciding the size of the mechs; I STILL am. Not too much though, since
this isn't my main project at the moment (then again mechs are cool....).

The small character sprite is based on the dot world sprites (same ones as the ones in SAM VS WORLD game -
I don't remember who made that though).

It was suppose to be Front Mission kind of game, but recently I have been looking at Vanguard Bandits (Epica Stella) so.... expect magics and stuff I guess!

As on the main Project.... well... I made charset sprites? nothing much beyond that. However, they are spoiler-ish so I will skip them.

Later.

@SW: Most FF7 fangames were poorly done "sequels" and spin-offs anyway - not a total remake, so yeah, it is cool.

Your sprites are just as awesome as ever. I always love how you color them to seem to futuristic, yet, not so post-apocylptic kind.

btw, which is your main game? The superhero one still, right?

You know, the weird thing is that after my superhero game, I was planning for a mecha game, too - but that means I'll have to convert my modern graphics and make new ones - so I'm holding that idea off for now. Plus, I have to keep focus on one thing first before another.

SW that Sam Vs. World game uses graphics from a japanese site C: (I have all of them XD)
The person who made the game tho is the Illusionist.

Also that little sprite is so adorable, work on your game damnit >:V

For this game, yeah, those are the ones I will probably use (for the scaling). But we'll see; I like to put details to the sprites, so having a really small sprites might sacrifice details and stuff (poses).

For the mechs, maybe the top (smaller ones). Since bigger mechs = cool; but = more work animating them. Plus if it is too big, that gives me smaller spaces to customize it.

EDIT:
I just realised that my statements contradict one another. Way to go!

Yeah, the superheroish game. Put too much effort to that one to quit it now....

I have a long line of game ideas like:
But since game making is just a hobby (I can't/don't know how make $$$ with it) I am taking it sloooooow.

Yeah, I didn't make it too clear in my post. The sprites is from Dot World (Japanese site) and was first seen on GW (by me at least) on Sam VS World game.

Send me some money and we'll talk about speed ahaha.
