@Kaempfer: CONVENIENCE that's the word! I was looking for shops in USA but I forgot about that word! I've gotten a lot more better pictures of the insides of the shops now! Thanks for that word Kaempfer! Yeah it's really subtle! I kind of made it a little bit darker but I guess it's not enough!

EDIT: Hopefully it looks like a small little cramped convenience store and the shelves are darker enough!

That's the ticket!  I'm not sure if it's meant to look untouched, because there isn't merchandise all over the floor or stuff knocked over.  I see blood on the floor, which implies a struggle, but everything is kind of pristine.

i think what was missing was a shadow, not more shelves. as far as i can tell the lighting in that room lands EVERYEWHERE equally.

I hate the photoshop textured bricks, but I guess it doesn't look too bad with the rest of the picture...

@SupremeWarrior: It looks great to me. I just completed a grocery/large convenience store yesterday, too.

@ Cray: The tileset is absolutely marvelous! But your character's shading is lacking compared to the background. It seems so for other characters, too, in other screens, but this is the most noticeable. You could either add more details to your characters or tone down the shading. But this tileset is too beautiful to be simplified.

@Cray: Beautiful. I'd add some tiles to the underside of the stone to make it look like it was ripped from the ground, thought. Sort of broken tiles, so it didn't look like it had a totally flat bottom. Does that make sense? I really like the colour of those yellow-gold bricks.

@SupremeWarrior: Yeah, looking loads better. I'd add some variation to the shelves and make the tops of those freezer units along the wall a bit deeper to make them take up more of that back wall, since the top is looking a bit bare. Evangel raises a good point about the shop looking like it is a bit too pristine a shape- try adding some empty shelves, empty cans on the ground, et cetera, to make it seem like others have been by but didn't get everything. This'll also explain why it doesn't have everything the player could possibly want, too.

Thanks for the comments, I thinking about adding some "ripped" tiles under it too, although I'm not sure if this should be a palace that was built on earth and then started to fly, or was actually built on air, by some antoque civilization, I'll look into that.
About the shading on the character, I agree sometimes it doesn't really blend with the map, but I guess that my style has changed over these 5 years, but if I change the characters now, they will clash with the maps I made 5 years ago (which for now blend well with the characters) so I think I'll just leave it like that for now.

@Cray: Theres something about that bridge! I think the colours on it are too light, they don't fit well with the rest of the map! Try using a darker colour maybe that will make it look better!

Phew, took a bit of work but I've got empty shelves, cans on the floor, I've added some poster and a security camera!

You know SupremeWarrior, this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen you actively improve your screenshots from decidedly average to very good based on people's suggestions. I dunno, I guess it's just nice seeing people take critique to heart and actually really working hard on improving.

Supremewarrior change the color of the floor tiling to something else (like green) so that the shelves stand out more
Play Raimond Ex (if you haven't already)

@Supremewarrior: That's a big improvement! I know we've been going after you here, but I agree about the colour of the floor. It's really not a big deal, but it'd probably be worth recolouring a little bit (with a little bit of yellow, rather than green, I'd suggest). It's nothing too important, though, I'd be happy walking around in there. Play around a bit with the colours on the floor if you've got a moment, it's good practice for your eyes (colour-selection wise). The back wall is still a bit barren, but that's more a result of perspective than emptiness. One thing I might add is one of those bubble-mirrors they have in convenience stores to the top-left corner. Might be a hard tile to find, though. Don't think Christo's the only one who's noticed you actually care about feedback, either.

@Cray: I think if you added a little bit of shading (nothing too much, the usual three-colour "dark-medium-light" should do the trick) to the chars they'd fit in absolutely everywhere. The discerning eye will catch the subtle palette changes (make them very subtle!) and they won't seem clashing with the earlier SoM-inspired stuff.

New title screen, a bit more consistent with the one from my first game.

It's a game I'm making more or less based on Joe's Garage and psyburn and theodore kaczinski. I'm going to redraw those ugly sprites.

@chibidestiny: I was thinking about menu placements, and thought it was a good idea you should put the equipment description on the right, since you would look at the equipment and think: "Hmmm, what is this?" rather than looking at the description and looking over where you got equipped.

@thernz: Did you do the sprites? And working on the background?

@NightBlade: The glowing blue art in the background is awesome. Gives a good sense of what's to come in the game.

@Mince Wobley: Cute and simple. I never played the games it was based on, but those colors seems fine to me. Just make sure there's enough contrast between characters and background
