@Kaempfer: In fact, I'm even working on a container town exterior tileset series, and it will come in forest setting, squatters setting, winter setting, and maybe in desert.

It'll be interesting to find out why the people are living in shipping-container houses as that seems quite unusual. . .  at least compared to most Earth towns.

I thought it would be cool to use claymation for the enemies, granted I have almost 100 unique enemies, and it clashes more than the regular drawings I did, but take a look at the difference between these:

I dunno its too time consuming. This one gnome guy took two hours to make.
I might just do it for bosses, ya know how in Final Fantasy 6 the bosses have a more detailed image rather than the regular sprites

Those clay characters could go with Neverhood but not probably with Aptos Adventures. Pixel people and shit + Clay = looks weird.
Also the evil pencils look like they could rape someone.

LMAO. Yeah, I was thinking about making the backgrounds animated which might make it look better.
Theres no way Im redoing the hero sprites though theres way too many.

That's near impossible at this stage considering the game is about 90% complete.
BUT Aptos Adventures III is likely to be made entirely out of clay,
an idea I've been tinkering with.
The reason is RPG Maker 2003 has a resolution that just isn't suited
for that, while I love the retro style which is why I didn't use
XP or VX. But with the higher resolutions and better color
palette of those makers it makes more sense

I'm not sure if I will finish Aptos Adventures: Complete by December, so I'm going to release
a short funny tech demo showing what I've added, you can only go to campus and Aptos.
It's going to be a Christmas present :)
and there's gonna be secrets and its gonna be funny! And you can see all the cool features I added.
Its really going to be an entirely different game almost. I'm adding SO much. You can interact with
everything, Nick responds to everything NPCs say, ect!

Rm2k - Been playing a lot of Mario Galaxy lately and thought I'd doodle this up. Some minor graphical errors with the size of the character, and jumping (gravity) is not set up yet but otherwise it works. I have a pretty good idea how to include the front and back as well. The scene is quite busy, I know.

nickmasterx are you an earthbound fan I just figured RPG CLAY MODELS but maybe not.

that last mockup screen is glorious

also weird touch having the two gnomes have different graphics. I think it adds something like it actually looks like GROUP of enemies and not just a bunch of canned graphics rpg maker 2000 lets you place the enemies in any random spot but it just eliminates the cool-looking symmetry of final fantasies and dragon warrior enemy groups. Having unique graphics for each guy definitely gives it that extra touch that actually makes the 'place enemies anywhere' feature actually worthwhile. For a second it looked like you designed the enemy graphics so NEGATIVE SPACE relative to each other but maybe not it just looked nice enough. Somebody should do that as a feature in one of those few 2d RPGs left - like it's the same enemy type like an group of ogres but they're in this battle formation or just whatever looks natural and each drawing is unique and it's like something out of some war painting like a freeze-frame effect

Edit: That honestly confuses my brain like Dragon Quest had some enemy sprite that was two enemies in one like TWEEDLEDEE TWEEDLEDUM but you just attack it as one entity or the final bosses from Final Fantasy VI  Thunder and Storm from Earthbound attacking a group of guys treated as one entity confuses my brain

I think Final Fantasy also had an enemy sprite which was like an army of little midgits but they all take damage as one guy

sorry for the completely random observation there but the point was an rpg maker game can actualy do something with graphics that's never been done before! (enemy groups where the same enemy type looks differerent/stands in a different pose/position/ actually design it with the aesthetics of how the entire enemy group looks in mind) maybe some of the hand-drawn games have done this already, that have like 3 enemy fights in the first place

Edit: Also I'm ignoring the entire history of pc rpgs it might've been done already in one of those
