So my computer was going nuts for 3+ days (well it still is, but!) and there is only one BLARG screenshot (by Eschatologist). Seriously guys, don't you want your tax refunds?

I like the sprites bandito. Not only does the simplicity look nice, but much easier to animate.

King Tetiro, that particular screenshot does seem a little claustraphobic. I would like to enjoy the rest of the graphics like window and door sprites. But, it's not like the rest of the town is exactly like that, besides that sort of town mapping can be pulled off in certain cases. It can make it seem denser.

Bandito, I kind of like those chars. They are different and seem to fit the chipset. I wouldn't change them even though some people will say to.

Nightblade's screen definitely looks much better. Nice job, man. All the little additions really add to it.

And yes, I would like my tax refund please sir! I am awaiting the next theme. (this has been really motivating for some reason.)

@Nightblade:  It's kind of funny that there's been all this discussion on your desert scenes, 'cause I've just started to compile the chipset I'll be using for my desert wonderland.  I've got a couple of questions though:

1) What chipset did you use as a base?  I know the characters are RS3 is the chipset as well?
2) If you're willing do you mind sharing it with me?  Unless a lot of it is custom, in which case I completely understand that you'd like to keep it to yourself.  I'd just really like to see what other pieces are on that chip.  I've been trying to find some reference for those little towers since they are very "Arabic" in design.  I'm using Mac and Blue, so that chip won't really be useful to me in any other way that reference.
3) If you're not willing to share that chip, would be so kind as to point me in the direction of some decent reference pictures of games with similar architecture (if you know of any that is).

I didn't really add a whole let extra to my version. I added the path, a different sand tile, some rocks, the statues, and a few other small knick knacks for the sake of consistency.

It's a short video showing how I've operated the Status screen, as well as Order selection and finally the Item Menu.

A little info about the menu:

edit:  Oh yeah.  The menu lists are dynamically sized, and "compressed."  What I mean by that is, if you have, say, 35 different items, then the menu will have 35 slots, but if you have 11 different items, the menu will have 11 slots.  By compressed, I mean that every time you open the menu, it automatically gets rid of gaps between items, etc.

I will be using this same engine to allow you to organize skills for battle.

Not too fond of the RTP mixed with SD3 graphics, I say get rid of the rtp

Finally finish with the main character's Grand Magia ( super move ) Do you notice the screen shaking when he fly across the screen?

The magic circle below the character's suppose to be a marker telling which character belogn to which player ( red being player 1, blue for player 2 and so on ) And the target marker that circulating around the character tell you who's aiming at you.  But I think people will confuse between these two since the target marker stand out more than the magic circle @_@

Also, in the video I was fighting with the a.i.  yeah!

I really like it! Will the text box change according to the expression too? Like, comic style, you know? :)

The tint makes it looks more like you're pausing the game instead of showing that it's night time :/   Maybe it's because everything is darken , including the lightpole in the middle of the screen, hence make it looks like everything is 'disable'

Calunio, I have hope for your game man, excited to see how it will turn out, especially since it's a serious take on it. About the map, the Xavier mansion/school is not in the forest man, haha. Slap up that sd3 with some theo. It might not work because of clashing textures but I think it's worth a try. You know, give it more of an urban feel.
