@jman00: Not bad. Is that the RPG Maker VX Default Chipsets? (sorry, I've never delved into the program x_x') It's pretty much perfect, the map just needs some people. =)

@SW: Looking really awesome. It reminds me of an rpg I used to know in where you would walk around town just like this....

You plan on having the cars drive, though, right? Will the people be 'tiny-a-nized'?

I guess the least I could do, as the production of Takuto in Pixel-art format is pretty much done and gone, is to show some of the stuff I had coming up within the project...

Their not the best custom chipsets in the history of rpg maker, in fact they have many flaws, but I felt a kind of accomplishment from creating them from scratch:

Place used in Episode 6 Beginning

Place used in Episode 6 Beginning

Place used in Episode 6 Middle

Place used in Episode 7 Middle

Place used in Episode 7 Middle

Place used in Episode 8 or 9...around there...

@SW: The town looks great, as usual. In order to avoid any unwanted comparisons, start to show us what it looks like when the player moves around through the town. Does he drive a car? Does he ride a bike? Show us. It doesn't have to be in video form (in fact, I prefer screenshots) but some means of using that city for gameplay would be nice.

Live-a-live? If you mean that one, yeah, I used some reference from that.

to answer both questions: No, there are no cars/bike driving by as of now (what about later?  :shrug:A mystery). I am not sure if I am gonna make that, since I am not even sure I can pull off clouds and birds moving nicely in the map. Heck, the player might not even spend more than 2 minutes on the map, so it's purely optional I guess! (As you go to the edge of the map, you are transported into another area, so it's not really easy setting up traffic and things like that/It's not worth it, so unless there are easy solutions, I will keep it static).

Also, no, there are no people on the map. Well, maybe there will be, but in icons (like SMT if you played that game). In charset size, but that happens rarely so shouldn't matter too much (aside from they look like giants??).

Kaempfer: the player will be represented by icons in the map. So it's an icon moving through the maps unobstructed for easy access. Currently I have nothing to show on that since I haven't made an icon for the player yet (and still one last area in the map not yet done).

Think of it like a ye olde crumpled treasure map where you can move the dagger around and choose where you want to go.

It's gonna be full of iconsss. :fogetshrug:

EDIT: Need a bridge or something.
Quote from: oldTFTwordsrecreated
Need a high speed battle chase
Speaking of which, where did he go anyway.

EDITMAX:
You know what, I guess pictures are better as proof to explain it it's gonna be something like this

Blue:exit point
Yellow : character.
It's WIP, so that icons will be replace by somethings more catchy/stand out.

Here’s a CMS I’m currently making for a game I’m making, So far its going great (for my very first CMS that is) right now I’m making the LP CP and EXP display with pictures (I hate placing pictures, takes so long to get it in the right place).

Main menu screen with working Metto (currency) display, Total play time and location display, I still have to do the LP, CP and EXP display

The item screen made in more of a Final Fantasy fashion (separating consumable items, quest or important items and wisdom shard with teach spells). The items are represented by icons and when you’re hovering over the item an info box (picture) is displayed

The Alter system is similar to you're normal equipment system but plays a much different role. You "equip" different body mutations that effect parts of the character, for example a Cerebral cortex item, when equipped, will increase magical defence/resistance but when you level up you're CP (Mana) will increase depending on the Cerebral Cortex mutation that character has equipped, (and if he has nothing equipped he gains no CP when he levels up) And due to the fact there are NO levels you can keep training till you max it out
:woop:

Status Screen, There are 12 status effects in total and each are represented by one of the 12 zodiac signs.

Just a test map with a some of the main cast (the FFV chipset is a placeholder till I get around the actually making one)

@gongo3090: It's all looking great! That FF5 chipset suits your charsets very well.

@gongo3090: That looks great, especially for a first time CMS! Keep at it. You having a CBS too?

@Nessiah: Looks great, as with all your other artwork, although it'd be nice to have some info instead of a smoke bombing...

Still working on chipping away at this... ha

Well, actually I've been working on Neo Lescia a bit too, but this has been getting some attention.

Nessiah: I would heavily advise against having a single sentence fill the entire message box. It just is not that fun to read. If you have some sort of justification (e.g. the speaker is a motormouth) then by all means, continue, but otherwise I would advise to cut the sentence up in smaller segments.

I would also advise you not use too much "her" and "she" references. In large quantities this may become confusing, especially to those who are less strong with languages. Consider replacing them with other pronouns.

For example:
"It might seem normal for her to say that. But, actually, the Third Head hates her [consider ][/consider] from the bottom of her heart. My partner here has this habit of annoying her; she tells me it's so fun to annoy her [consider ][/consider]."

<RPG> contra's depth is an illusion, it's not sustainable for a real story
<RPG> it's just fun, with fun gameplay
<RPG> rpg players ask "where did the robot come from"

My partner here has this habit of annoying her; she tells me it's so fun to annoy her [consider ][/consider]. could probably be shortened to
My partner has a habit of annoying ____ because (partner pronoun) thinks it's fun.

A short sentence is a best friend with benefits. It gets straight to the action. The reason that it's a friend rather than an easy lover is not significant enough for discussion.

Lennon: That's Saturn Valley-inspired, right?  Looks pretty cool

The other screens are nice but I'm not sure I really like the choice of colors. Seems like you were trying to go for a Phantasy Star look but that game had the worst palette

SW: I kind of like the city but it feels like a sim game. Is it supposed to be? Like I imagine myself building the buildings in those screens

Strength is spelled wrong. Perhaps you should just abbreviater the words to make the box shorten as well. I think the placement of the text on the right box is too close to the other box's edge.

Looks interesting. I am not too fond of the menu background though. (Too foggy and interfere (a bit) with the words imo).

@lennon
Liking that style

It'd be cool if it is - but I am using Rm2k3 so yeah, no chance of that.

btw, have some clouds clods and birds

Slight update on teh village.

And I also redid one of my older areas with new chipsets. My beta testers would notice the difference pretty quick. The beginning temple area looks way better now!

and for the sake of distributing, here ya'll go.

Have fun, don't use it all in one game.

Actually, no. It sure does look similar, I'll give it that but the only reason it's cylndrical is because when I wrote the prologue I made the surface world houses cylindrical.

I had to redo the front of the menu due to the stupid image limit (I needed 56 images :fogetsad:) so I moved the LP and CP to the Status menu and made it so only ones characters LP and CP a displaced at a time (ill post an example once I Finnish it, in the mean time the updated main menu, custom message box and an example of a few of the character sets I made)

New Menu look

Message Box

Character Display

@Chipotle
 I  notice that this morning and fixed it as well as a few other typos I made
 And on you're second note that has been changed as well (thanks for the input on that)

@SW
 The background is the default look, I will be adding other background styles soon that you can pick (it will change both the menu and message box)

@Lennon
 I would love to make a CBS but for now the menu is priority then a CSS (Custom Shop System).

Well, I've pretty much decided to quit working on "Fight! Save the Universe!".  Instead I bring you S.P.A.C.E., or Super Powerful Armored Celestial Explorer.  It's kind of a cross between Kirby, Mega Man and a generic shmup.
