@SW hehe nice. the clouds doesn't fit for me for some reason
Can you be more specific? Also yeah, the cloud is made in... few seconds (two minutes maybee). It's kinda random haha (didn't want it to be overly complicated - it's gonna be slightly transparant anyway!). Though any advice will be appreciated - for future works mostly.

@gongo3090
Those are really rad looking charset bud. Also, well... freedom on the player is always nice. Just hope it doesn't make the whole CMS too complicated though!

@Mr. Weird Guy
I like it. The ship and the background (share?)
Oh and S.P.A.C.E. Thing.

=================

Btw... uh... I have a feeling that the icon thing will not be... popular with you guys.

And here's the thought process thing

(dots means the ones I consider to use)

I wasn't too fond of it - sure it looks cool but... I wish I could make it spin or something. Alas, Rm2k3.
Guess this is good enough! (might change it later if I find something better).

It's AMPLIFIED in size because the original look is too small (see 2nd Gen). Too hard for players to see imo (agree?)

BTW Questions:

1. What does Wait 0.0 do? Does it improve the performance in some way? Also where should I put it? (putting it everywhere in picture process seems... overkill/ I don't know if it actually help).

2. Heh, I think I broke the game once while trying to make a rain effect (Loop rain SE without putting wait). It just hang with a screeching sound - I hope this doesn't have any negative effect for the project yes?

@SW
 that map looks great but those birds look a bit out of place (there as big as some of the towers)
and regarding changing the menu and massagebox pattern it wont be that complicated, it will work similar to how it worked in the RM2K game "FF-Endless Nova", if anything I am worried if I over complicated the Alter system and if new players will pick it up

Gongo, that menu is barely legible. Is there really a point in using that over the default menu system?

@ Gongo: NightBlade does have a point when it comes to font and the importance of the menu. The only things I can see that aren't included in the default menu (from this screenshot alone) is the "Time Played" and "Location" displays.

Well, technically there's a few ways you could do it. But it takes a bit of working around and might not be worth the effort.

1. What does Wait 0.0 do? Does it improve the performance in some way? Also where should I put it? (putting it everywhere in picture process seems... overkill/ I don't know if it actually help).

It causes the system to wait for a fraction of a tenth second. I forget how many but it's something like 1/4th or 1/16th of 0.1 seconds. It works like Wait 0.1 seconds in that you're introducing a bit of a pause in order to prevent some code from occurring too quickly or too often (thereby lagging the system). Where you should put it really depends on what you're trying to do.

2. Heh, I think I broke the game once while trying to make a rain effect (Loop rain SE without putting wait). It just hang with a screeching sound - I hope this doesn't have any negative effect for the project yes?

This could be because you haven't put in a Wait code into your event. You need to use a parallel process that plays it, and waits an amount of time equal to (or a little bit less than) the length of the sound file. It's actually pretty cumbersome to use ambient sound effects like that (and it's screwed up on me before), so you might want to just use it as a music file.

I haven't posted anything in a while, soooooooo....

Edit: On second thought, maybe its better to keep that secret. Gimme a sec to post something else.

Edit2:

Mainly been doing a lot of drawing lately. And chipset splicing.

We've been working on Ape-Skewer quite a lot last week, so it's time for another screen on it. As you can see it's Ape ripping a Cassis from a Flower.

@Simtor: Now that's a weird screenshot, yet very interesting. How much of this is custom? Don't recognize anything.

I agree, but that's all right. Making a new charset for the birds is quite a work - Plus in certain events there will be (normal-sized) charset on the map. In my opinion, it would not be too much of an issue to the players. Sure it looks kinda whacky, but I hope it doesn't reduce too much of the charm.

Well, technically there's a few ways you could do it. But it takes a bit of working around and might not be worth the effort.
This whole sentence is basically my work ethics.

Hmm... I don't really get it, but I guess I will as I tinker with pictures and stuff like that.

Yeah, I have a feeling it will screw up stuff. Like if you have an event that plays a certain sound, that would make it kinda awkward (as far as I know, you can only have one sound effect happen at a time(?) - probably gonna test it out myself).

Also I missed that 1st screen. Oh well.

@Simtor
I agree, that screen is pretty weird, but cool. The bulbs looks like something from Secret of Evermore but I can't say for sure! If it is custom, great work.

@Mr.Big T
Uh, faceset is clashing, terrible childhood issue, psychotic madman - Yep, this is one of your brand all right.
I suggest that you should use the usual message format (i.e.)
[Name]
[Line1]
[Line2]
[Line3]

Using
[Name] [Run-on ][/Run-on]
is not a bad idea, but you kinda forgot to use it in the jack as kid[.?] screen - and it makes it kinda awkward when a character say long stuff that continues in the 2nd message box imo.

Perhaps using [] or variants of this would help?

Here's a sample as well a my little contribution for the topic, to make this post not really useless.

Nothing really interesting, just how the message will look like in general.

EDIT : Gwhoops, "Rush" thing is Brush icon explanation in paint, not actual game screen! (also testing charset).

Thank you from your feedback, that's actually a good idea. I'll see what I can do. Speaking of clashing faceset, which one do you mean?

I mean that they clashed with one another, not with the charset.

[ 4 Screenshots ]

What I would suggest is cutting down on a lot of the "...", trust me. I've seen games that do this, and it doesn't add to the mood enough to deem half a message box of "..." significant.

Also, for the 3rd screen it should be "conscious" and "afraid".

@ Mr. Weird guy: Nice idea to make a space shooter. I already played a good one for RPG Maker. If the technique works you should add more space stuff to the game.
@Neok: Great artworks. If you have done that yourself: impressive.
@ simtor: interesting graphic style. Don't know that style yet. But the right and the left site of the map have to be fuller imho.
@ Mister Big T: Ha ha ha X,-DD. Looks like a very sick horror game. Very funny imho, but grammar have to be better as well as the mapping. I hope the mix of the styles is wanted.
@ SW: I like the retro style, but I don't like the elements from Mac & Blue in your chipset.

A little screen from my upcoming Promo game ''Fat Schwombo's Castle'':
the infamous "Shakesbeer Translat0r" troll topique (14 pg.)
the infamous "Women Can't Make Games" troll topique (18 pg.)

Thanks for the comments guys. Well, the screen is a combination of customs, recolors, edits and rips. Faceset is drawn by Sijbren, and the cave wall is done by myself. The ground tiles and the stairs are well, semi customs. I used sprites from Necromortis as examples. The ceiling consists of recolored FF tiles. The flowers are from Terranigma (Great game!). The hero sprite is a Chrono Trigger monster with a mask editted on. The flower in the message box came from a Mac and Blue set I think.

@Neok. Yeah sick art dude. As expected from you, but still. Good stuff.

@Mr Big T: I never respond to your posts because I feel that is bad but why is that every room you make is shaped like a triangle pointing downwards? THAT IS NOT WHAT ROOMS LOOK LIKE

@ Kaempfer: I suppose it all depends on what sort of house you live in, even though the roof would have one hell of a time supporting itself without caving in.

EDIT: I'll be back with a screenshot later for this post.

Well so far I have finished the main page of the CMS, the Status screen is now finished and right now I’m working on the Alter System right now I’m just doing to events for showing the equipped items then ill start work on selection screen

The alter screen thus far

And to take a break from the CMS, here’s a screen shot of the level up alert (Ill explain the whole SP thing later)

@NightBlade
 Well if I use the default menu it will be the same as countless other RM2K/3 games, I want it to look unique, and I have wanted to make a CMS for some time now, felt like now’s a good a time as ever.

@Corfaisus
right now it looks that way but once its done it will have more unique options (Right now I’m going to keep most of them to my self in case I cant implement the)
