So I was working on a map for the next town in my game, Meaphrule, for three hours straight yesterday (started around 12pm, finished around 3pm). After that work, I realized that it was a strange mixture of too big to fill in, but too small to add to, so I was forced to scrap it. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed. I started working on ANOTHER map for Meaphrule late last night, finished less than an hour ago, and I think I've got what I wanted. This lives up more to the original idea of Meaphrule than the old version from 2007-08, which was supposed to be a village on the side of a cliff, surrounded by forests, with docks along the shore at the bottom of the cliffs. Without editing the chipset back then, I was forced to give up on that idea and instead make it a flat town surrounded by forests with a dock at the southwestern corner.
I tried to plan this place out, I really did, but after the first plan failed, I just decided to throw up my hands and say "**** it..." and just let my imagination run wild. This is the result, and to be honest, I'm feeling good about it.
You'll notice how there appears to be trees, cliffs, barrels, and crates on top of the houses. This is due to the fact that I've set it up to where you can walk underneath the roofs of the houses, so those are all behind the house, while stuff like crates are used to keep me from having to add more events than necessary.
And just to show what all that time was wasted on...
You can tell where I gave up on the first attempt, as the grass is still default and the field is barren. I was thinking about putting in a sort of tower off on the far western cliff, but that didn't exactly work.
